High Return Rates..

Many buyers just decide they dont want the items and send it back or dont read the description and end up having to return it.

then they get angry when in reality its their own fault for being lazy and not reading description before buying, ebay is all about cheapest prices so I feel like i get a bunch of broke younger kids buying from me.

Its getting bad to the point where I want to move on and not deal with it anymore. Im considering amazon and my own retail store or website.

But I guess dealing with returns is part of any retail business no matter what the product is. Im sure clothing is a high return rate also.

Its just a bit frustrating because I take care of the returns immediately and always eventually get shut down or limited account because I had too many returns open.

Its not like i dont respond which that i could see being a real problem, open cases etc.

I hate ebay but I also make a living on it, its hard to plan my next move (amazon/store/website) When i feel like i have to invest So much extra time just to sell on ebay.

Its done me good the past few years but damn lol i feel like im beating my head against a brick wall despite making decent money.
Just feels like so many extra steps, so much extra work.

Ebay is definitely a love/hate relationship for the vast majority of people on these forums. I feel your pain.
For the record - don't think Amazon would be much better in that regard and from what I know its a much tougher platform to operate on.

I have to agree. Amazon would probably chew you up and spit you out within 3 months.

Have the higher final value fees been applied to your account since your return rate is high? IDK how it's going to be implemented but eBay says they will soon charge higher fees to sellers with high return rates.

Re: High Return Rates..

yea they sent some message saying theres I believe an extra 4% fee which is absolutely ridiculous.

I make $ and just got a house but man its just non stop stress with ebay i cant wait to get my website/store going and leave ebay alone.

Ebay is working for now but man I am ready to get out. So im trying to make sales this weekend cant even relax just have to keep checking listings and whatnot because every time i drop my price, somebody drops theirs. Half the stuff sold on ebay has such small profit margins I dont even understand why or how they are selling many items so cheap!

Sales slow lately for you guys lately also? July/August seem to be the worst for me.

You've been shut down, for NOTHING more than JUST return requests?

Hmmm... hard to say, but maybe you should sell something else that doesn't have this high or a return rate...?

I used to do clothing, but the return rate and complaints were too high. Had to make a change. :(

You could try Free Returns and 30 Day Returns. Yes its way too much, however these cases now no longer affect your metrics so at least you can continue selling, growing your brand and figure out in depth how to reduce returns with better pics and descriptions.

which cases don't affect our metric, and which ones are you referring to, that did affect them?

Re: High Return Rates..

SNAD's affect your metric, unsure about INR's. Check the Ebay US autumn update for more clarity
