IP exposure through eBay messaging system?
 

When I open a message through the eBay messaging system there is usually a picture of the mentioned listing in the message.

Could the true IP be exposed due to the image in the message?

In your email?

If you're talking about in your email, most major email clients re-host any embedded content in emails to prevent just what you're talking about. (Right click an eBay image in your email and see where it's hosted to test this) But if you're responding to eBay messages through your email eBay can probably see whatever IP you send the response from.

If you're talking about in your messages on eBay then of course they see your IP.

They see the true IP or the IP I get from my VPN provider?

They see the email providers servers IP in most cases

If you're responding to messages from within eBay that would mean you're logged into eBay, so they see whatever IP you're currently accessing the internet with. If you're on a V-P-N they would see your V-P-N IP.
