I'm a little behind. Can you tell me about this card? Do you have to have a bank account and card, or just a card? Can you use this card to open a paypal account? Thank you.

egyptman90 09-07-2007 06:33 PM

yeah this card can be purchased at the local pharmacy such as rite ad or cvs or even a gas station is called a vanilla visa card, you can eve buy them online google vanilla visa and it will get you the web site, you dont need anything other than the 3.95 fee required to have the card plus the actuall amount balance on the card. you get an actuall card to use and it will work on ebay as well as paypal

Whateverittakes 09-07-2007 06:38 PM

If I get this card, would I be able to skip opening another bank account? Thanks.

egyptman90 09-07-2007 07:22 PM

you dont bneed to open a bank account you can give ebay a phony bank account number as long as the routing number is valid

Whateverittakes 09-07-2007 07:24 PM

yes, but how would I verify when they add those two little deposits?

egyptman90 09-07-2007 07:27 PM

ohh thats a diffrent story...yes you will need a bank account for that...this thread is about ebay not paypal...but anyways you can open a free savings locally with 20 bucks usually to get it upen and active:p

Thanks egyptman90. I had a feeling eBay wasn't blocking all gift cards, or any at all. People just have to mix it up.

egyptman90 09-07-2007 10:17 PM

no problem, i had the same feeling that is just a rumor being spread;)

You guys need to read over the previous discussions about these gift cards (i.e. how they work blah blah blah)...been discussed many times especially over the past few weeks. Re-hashing old info which tends to be counterproductive.

I just posted a couple days ago I had NO problems with Gift Cards. So, far those who did had to screw up something when applying.

anotherebayhater 09-08-2007 08:27 AM

simon cards all start with 4016 so buy gift cards from another source thats all. obviously the vanilla ones work so you can use GCjust maybe no simon although some have said they used simon with no prob.

Okay I called the vanilla visa domain registration number and they transferred me to a real person at Vanilla Visa (as the phone number on the website is only an automated number). The real person told me flat out that: The card is not active for online, they cannot activate online, they cannot assign a name address, phone number, zip code, etc. and their cards do not work online and there is nothing I can do. The cards get nothing but declines online even without any address verification codes or card code checks.

Okay.. I finally got new gift card that you guys have been talking about and opened new ebay account. I'm totally nervous now that if they are going to shut me down again. I followed every steps.. like chaning IP and stuffs.. and not opening old suspended emails. I hope I can keep this account.

Oh, I bought a gift card for my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ebay name and I don't know if this is going to work.... Does anyone know if I can recharge this simon.com gift card so that I can pay ebay fees?

DogFacedBoy 09-15-2007 11:04 AM

Can't recharge the simon GC. Use it to set up a PP account, then verify the PP account with a real bank account [it has been discussed here extensively that PP only checks to make sure the bank account is real, they do not have access to the bank account holder's name and address so it doesn't have to match the bogus info that you reg'd with for both PP and EB]
Then set it up through EB to pay your seller fees from the PP account with the GC as a secondary method should you not have funds to cover your fees in your PP account.
I've been reading about your dilema this morning and you might have added a new email to your husband's existing PP. If you did indeed do that already, just do what I just described using payment from his PP to cover your user fees with the simon GC as your backup method.

As long as you keep enough in your PP to cover your fees, recharging the GC should not be a problem

You can always do a "one time payment" option to pay your fees by sending a Money order in or possibly paying with a different CC. I don't want to try this because if I start using all kinds of methods of paying EB other than those that I have on file they might start looking at my account a little more closely.
