sooooo I bought something and I wanted to return it. Seller said sure so I send it back and it says out for delivery, but now its been 3 days and still says out for delivery am I screwed?

He's probably right. Carrier most likely forgot to scan the shipment on delivery. You're only hope is the seller being honest.

I had two things I bought last week, that were out for delivery and then tracking just stopped. Maybe it's a glitch.

contact the post office and have them do an updated scan over their computer system.

Contact the destination post office and talk to a supervisor, if it's only been a few days they can call the route driver and find up what's going on.

I've been able to get them to make the driver to go pick up packages that are incorrectly delivered and re-deliver them to the correct address.

The supervisors love doing this. It gets the carrier in trouble and puts a black mark on their file. Enough problems and they can demote/fire the carrier.

Nothing management loves more than screwing over the union.

why do not ask seller ?? if he try to scam you , contact post office , they may confirm it is delivered ..if so ask them to send you copy of his signature ... this happened to me before ..
a customer in USA lied to me say he did not receive his order , tracking number was not updated online , no info at all .. he open case at PP .
i contacted USPS , they confirmed customer received it ... i asked them to send me copy of his signature with date & time ... they kindly did ..
i uploaded it to PP .. that's it ..i won the case ....case closed

also i think if he tries to scam you ,you can open case at PP .. tracking shows " out for delivery " means it is most likely delivered ... my case was much worse ,no tracking info at all .

"out for delivery" unfortunately won't win you a case. We frequently have to issue refunds for shipments that went "out for delivery" and never showed a delivery scan. There's no way of telling if the buyer is lying or if they really didn't get their package.

Admittedly, I've never gone through the trouble of contacting the receiver's PO like dallis and CJ mentioned.

"most likely delivered" means absolutely nothing tho. It was most likely delivered, or the driver got drunk and crashed into a lake on his way to the house. Who the hell knows?

IM THE BUYER WHO IS RETURNING GOODS. I shipped it back and it made it to there town out for delivery was last update. I spoke with the rep and they said I will be refunded if no update by sat.

that's for SNAD cases. Didn't sound like yours was a SNAD case? I just can't imagine ebay forcing a refund for something that wasn't proven delivered. They'd close out an item not received case against a seller for the same situation, in a heart beat.

So lets just say, the seller shipped an item to you, but it was lost by the post office. Would you eat that, or would you open up a case and hold the seller responsible ?

I wouldn't hold anyone responsible. But to avoid a loss I would try anything I could to get my money back with that being said anything lost by the postal service should be covered by eBay whether it be a seller or buyer. IMO

I fought and won almost all cases as well and thats how i ended up here. If a buter loses a case on ebay there is a chance that they can always open ip a case on paypal or chargeback which are both worse than ebay cases. I have now taken the approach of just bending over and lightly lubing my anus

I have had bad luck recently now I currently have a package that is still in transit for 2 weeks now...buyer opened a case...tracking says in transit...USPS sux btw...anyways will I be out the money since the postal service lost the package? I've never had this situation before they have all gotten delivered...

if the item is cheap i personally would just refund the buyer take the loss and move on. if the item does eventually reach the buyer just tell them to ship it back to you, in most cases they wont but its worth a try.

OP is the sender, it is up to them to claim from carrier.

As a buyer you dont really have a time frame, everyone is on your side . You cant get negative feedback in anyway. Ebays return policy is 30 days but it cant be enforced in anyway since paypal and credit card chargebacks allow up to 6 months. I wouldnt worry about it i have had items that take longer than 2-3 weeks to arrive but they usually do. You can go ahead and add the tracking to your text alerts and also file a missing mail claim to see if it speeds anything up. But yes you have 6 whole months to get that item delivered without begative impact to you.

You can't say you wouldn't hold anyone responsible, while also saying you'd try anything you can to get your money back. Which is holding the seller responsible for the loss. Ebay isn't going to cover it, right? The person shipping it, no matter what, is responsible, and you would open a case of item not received. Right? That case, means the SELLER will be held responsible, and no matter what, will have to refund you your money. Now, it's you that shipped an item out, and it hasn't been received, but you STILL want to hold the SELLER responsible. Sellers really do have a ****ty lot on ebay don't they? Buyer doesn't receive it, we lose. Buyer ships back and seller doesn't receive it, we STILL lose.

The loss is on you in this case. You shipped it. you lost it. So eat it, just as every single seller has had to do, since time eternity.

By the way. This was my main question. You said it's not the buyers fault if the post office lost their return. Therefor, if you ever buy something again, and the post office loses it, you better not open a case against the seller, because, as you've clearly admitted here, it's NOT the sellers fault if the postal service loses their shipment. Right? Can't have your cake and eat it too. :dance:

You have to contact the destination PO within a day or two of the problem, or else they'll say it's been too long, that no one will remember.

if the seller sends and carrier loses, the seller claims from carrier.

if buyer returns and carrier loses, the buyer claims from carrier..........

this forum is primarily for sellers so...on what planet is the seller at fault for what you shipped back??

ebay rep, but honestly i think they only did cause its probs considered a "courtesy refund" since this was the first time i ever complained on that account...but hell it aint my fault if USPS loses it. God I hate USPS sooooo much they literally just delivered there own free boxes I ordered somewhere else..tracking said delivered even the free boxes dont show up FML
