Number of views

Does the number of views help you in the item visibility? just curious.

Re: Number of views

It's a factor. More views = a more popular listing = better search visibility.

I wonder though, if it has views but the conversion rate is low, would the algo bump him down?

Re: Number of views

I'm 90% sure that is the case, Saijin.

I say that because I have one listing that is 3yrs old with over 20k sold. When the listing was new it was literally selling over 100 items per day (it's a cheap item). These days the listing has over 200,000 views but it only gets a few sales per week. The listing's views are sky-high but sales conversion has gone way down over the years. So what used to be the #1 listing when you searched is now buried way down on like the 4th page.

Let me revise the equation from earlier...
More views = better potential for sales conversion = better search visibility

Views mean little without sales conversion, but you probably won't get many views without a decent sales conversion rate.

Re: Number of views

A high view rate when not coupled with high conversion rate will result in the listing being pumped down in search results.

Yes viewers and watchers help to bump you up in the listings. I have seen services for these to help bump up in listings but i am unsure if they are safe to use.

Back when Cassini or whatever first came out, high views and no sales lowered your ranking. Means no one wants what you're selling, at the price you're selling it for.

Not sure about nowdays, but it still makes sense to have it like that

I'm curious about those services, but I'm very suspicious of services from outside of the forum.

What's the detail on these service providers?
