To sell 2nd hand Samsung phones you don't need permission since people sell their old phone all the time. But to become an authorized Samsung distributor or retailer you'll need their permission. I was actually just researching the requirements to become a Samsung distributor/retailer a few weeks ago, and they are extensive. Your initial investment would be in the $20k range at a minimum and you would need a real retail business license.
I don't think Samsung uses Markmonitor for trademark enforcement, though I may be wrong. Contacting 1 IP enforcement company isn't going to do you much good since a lot of bigger companies use more than one. Apple for example has contracts with at least 3 different IP enforcement companies that I know of. (appdetex, markmonitor, IPshark, and their own in house VeRO agents)
So rather than seeking permission from an IP enforcement company who monitors marketplaces for dozens of different name brands, your time would be better spent seeking permission from Samsung directly.
A 5k FB account would be a good account to sell smartphones on in my opinion, but just like any other pricey items you would need to gradually ease into selling them. If you went from selling 0 smartphones to selling 50 per week @ $600 each you would be hit with an invoice request regardless of how aged your EB/PP are. One advantage of a high feedback account like yours is that you look more experienced to buyers and are therefore a lot less likely to be scammed.
Which leads me to my next point...
Your profit margins would depend on your buying power, naturally. If you can spend $5,000,000 with Samsung you're going to get a lot better price than if you spend $20,000 (which would probably be your MOQ). Assuming your a big-time buyer with money to spend you can expect a 25-35% profit margin, as long as you can prevent scammers from scamming you. |
