Shipping to Brazil

I have a rare order that needs to be shipped to Brazil.

What is the consensus about shipping there at the moment?

Any serious issues or problems to be aware of?

Cheers.

Brazil is highly developed and isn't risky at all compared to a lot of other South American countries. Never had an issue shipping there and we do it frequently.

Thanks for the rapid reply.

When you refer to other S A countries, which ones are you referring to?

Argentina and Columbia?

Just guessing from performing my own research.

Shipments to Venezuela are lost or stolen before delivery almost every time. The postal workers there are too hungry to handle valuable shipments. Colombia's success rate seems to be about 50/50. I can't recall any issues with Argentina.

Re: Shipping to Brazil

Here are a few countries I absolutely NOT ship to under any circumstances:

Nigeria (nearly 100% are scams)
Just about any country in the entire continent of Africa (with the exception of S. Africa)
Italy, Greece and Cyprus (high risk - 20-30% of packages go missing sent there)
Spain, Portugal (too many past issues with these)

France: i dont ship there because your feedback always takes a hit... They are NEVER happy...either the shipping cost, or the items sent.

Romania (another bad one)
Russian Federation (and it's counterparts)
Ukraine
Belarus
Any of the "stan" counrties: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

India: Always a problem, lots of issues with their customs/holds.

I also exclude most of South America & Asia, but take these on a case-by-case basis.

Believe it or not I've been burned more times shipping to Italy, Spain, and Portugal in the past. Not sure why so many scammers in that part of Europe, but I definitely not going to entertain any orders sent there.

I don't filter any countries (I also sell mostly cheap items) and we sell tons to Russia. Once you get past the language barrier and translate their shipping address to something a label printer recognizes, they're actually decent people lol.

Re: Shipping to Brazil

many of my items are in the collectible category $500> so I need to be extra careful when shipping those out, as well as requiring a signature upon delivery. For larger orders over $2000, I take additional measures and actually perform checks on the address (via public records) and require a valid phone # that must be a landline or cellphone. I may even call the customer to confirm, as I have done that on a large order. If they don't answer or I am unable to reach them, I cancel the sale.

On the other hand I would not buy ANYTHING from South America.

Re: Shipping to Brazil

You are brave if you are shipping an item outside of your own country that's a few hundred dollars. I'm too paranoid for that.

But Brazil is a good country. Use a faster shipping service with signature confirmation that can be tracked and proven. Cost more, but better than the cheaper shipping for sure.

Re: Shipping to Brazil

I used to sell high value items all around the world.

The corruption in customs is unbelievable.

Once in India a customs official insisted my buyer went to a cash machine first before they gave them their item!

Cash in Hand = No record!

Oh gosh, forgot about that... 3rd world country customs are some of the worst, they even dare to blackmail tourists in person and threaten them with jail time.

Re: Shipping to Brazil

The media company was recently called, time and product have not been delivered, it has become the recipient and is due to a tax of about 40 years. What is the right? What is not? Customs should be paid by the buyer, but also because the buyer would have been a case that had lost because the product would never have been necessary to prove what was happening. So it excludes Brazil from my shipments.

Re: Shipping to Brazil

I have literally no idea what you're talking about, but 40 years is way too much tax.

Import duties are always the buyer's responsibility.

Great advice given on the thread but keep in mind that if it's "rare" and high value item might attract the professional scammer so be aware.

Stopped shipping to Brazil. Their tracking system doesn't work properly.
You can see when it enters BR but after that nada.
