A Merchant Account (payment processor) usually requires some kind of underwriting approval. At the very least they will require a lot more verifcation than PayPal ever would. Amoung other things, they will want to verify your real identity via SSN/DOB, have a US bank account, etc.
If that wern't bad enough, if you plan on using this merchant account on eBay, expect your sales to plummet. This reason being is because customers are so used to using PayPal, if they are forced to type in all their credit card/payment into over again at checkout, that's usually a deal breaker.
As you may know, eBay is transitioning to Adyen payment processing over the next few years. They may (or may not) continue to accept PayPal after that transition takes place., which is due to completed by 2022 or 2023. |
