How has the eBay catalog affected your sales?

In some categories, eBay is grouping thousands of listings and only few hundreds search results are appearing as a result of that. Of course, the option to turn that feature off (as a buyer) is also available.

I find that model absolutely ludicrous. They are literally showing me listings that have no sales history and dumping down listings that had surged.

Have your sales been affected by this new "invention" created by the "super geniuses" at eBay?

I wonder if the above mentioned model will rule over eBay in the future... I guess :pop2:

Yeah eBay is a pure mess right now. New accounts are getting lots of views, established accounts are getting dinged.

As a dropshipper I got really affected by the recent algorithm changes. But oh well, there are other platforms ;)

There are ways to still avoid the buy box. I believe you're the one deciding whether or not you want to join the buy box on a product, and not all of them have a buy box (yet).

When exactly have you started to see the negative impact on your eBay business due to the recent changes in algorithms?

Also, how do you think they flagged your account as a dropshipper?

Same here. Slow sales since June, lots of views. No difference between new and established accounts. Not a dropshipper.

First time April 20th, MANY drop shippers reported a big drop in sales overnight (50-90%). Some non drop shippers as well.

Second time around June 10th: my promoted listings went from consistent 2/3K daily clicks to 200/300 which caused impressions and sales tank even further. Now since early November, again many drop shippers are reporting the same issue.

The way accounts are flagged: numerous locations from where the item actually ships from (they scan the tracking numbers), mismatch with the listings item location (or listing says "multiple locations, multiple warehouses, etc). Also API access to some software. I'm sure they have other ways.

I'm still holding on and going steady, but this is without a doubt the impact it had on us:

Say we have 150 GTC BIN listings on an account. In 2017 we'd get 3 or 4 sales daily from 50-60 different listings. With our listings being catalogued it's more like 30-40 daily sales from 5-6 different listings.

Basically the listings that look best in the catalog get bookoo sales and all others get practically nothing.
