⊗⊗⊗⊗ Tracking Scam - Anything I can do?

Bought an item for around £700, and the seller added tracking (RoyalMail Signed For). That service only shows the delivery depot it was delivered from and a signature. The actual address is not displayed.

The item he sent (probably an empty packet) was delivered from my local delivery office, but no idea to where. From what the depot says, it was delivered to another area (based upon the postman's route who delivered it), but from that depot.

I assumed eBay/Paypal would cover me in such a case, but it seems not. At least as far as eBay is concerned, the item I bought has been delivered to me.

Is there anything I can do in this situation?

No idea who signed for it. Just a random squiggle.

Paid via Paypal through a normal eBay purchase.

Was it funded by PayPal balance or a card?

I've seen this scam before. Maybe contact Royal Mail and see if they can find out where the package was delivered to.

Funded by PayPal balance unfortunately.

Royal Mail are no help, they said the service used just gives delivery confirmation and signature only. No record of postcode or address :/

I called them 4 times to try with different people, but they all say the same.
