Google Chrome Extensions - do they track?

Should I be worried about Google Extensions?

I have a specific extensions - helps for a minor thing

Do they track and use?

I read that it can be done - and very controversial - since this could help in ID you. Like if you have pregnancy extensions, they know you will respond to pregnancy related ads - which is very unethical - similar to the Facebook scandals.

I can live without the extension.

Just wanted to know.

Are those extensions associated with ebay, PayPal? if not then I can't see why it would matter.
