I've been noticing that when I use the guest checkout for buying a gift card if its over a certain amount - approx 50 dollars then I would run into an error message. Does anyone know what I would need to do to lift the limits and get around this error message to purchase gc in the amount of 300-500 dollars?

What are you using to fund the purchase?

The 2 things to work out are - is it PayPal blocking the transaction (when checking out as a guest PayPal still process the transaction) or is it your card company blocking the purchase

No , I know it isn't the card company that is blocking the transaction. Ebay will allow the purchase up to about 50 - 60 dollars. But if you try something for 100, it comes up to this screen that says something along the lines about we limit how much you can buy. Then at the bottom it has a link for PayPal/verification.

If it is PayPal blocking the transaction, do you know how to get around it?

yeah dont use guest checkout with credit card on high value purchases,

People do it all the time on my listings. $1k plus and a lot of new users too.
