Buyer didn't receive a item

This all seems to be getting very common now, I always send by 1st or 2nd class recorded delivery with RM. But BUSINESS'S tend to claim they didn't receive the item, is the postman just handing it to them without a signature?

Anyway, my question is as follows:

How do I prove the valuation of a item sent and gone "missing" to RM without proof of purchase?

I am breaking a car and I am selling parts off it. So i don't have original receipt for the part I sold thats "gone missing".

Would the paypal payment received for the item be sufficient? has anyone done that before?

Re: Buyer didn't receive a item

It all comes down to having the post tracking # for this item.

Did you obtain this from Royal Mail?

Of course. But that doesn't prove valuation of the item.

Unfortunately without the receipt or some kind of documentation you either purchased, or had possession of the item with it's value noted, it's very difficult to prove your claim.

I assume you are requiring signature upon delivery for them 1st or 2nd class items. Seems RM is the one at fault, but they are going to claim they delivered to the business.

This is a problem with Royal Mail. I suggest you open a claim with them if you have not already done so. Here's the link:

Use DPD for car parts. I found that Royal Mail would not collect signature 10-20% of the time. Certain delivery offices are notorious for not obtaining a signature unless sent via Special Delivery.

Just make an invoice.

eBay covers you if its got tracking and says delivered. How do you know buyer isn't scamming? When this happens to me I tell buyers I'll look in to it (and I do) but its really no concern to me since my $$ isn't at risk.

There have been a time or two where UPS says they can't prove they delivered correctly and will issue a claim so I get refunded and then refund the buyer. But if not, not my problem.

Also ask for your fee back, they've failed to deliver the service you paid for.

Yep. I can confirm royal mail accept proof of value if you send them the original paypal invoice when the buyer sent the payment. You get what you sold it for, not what you paid for it.
