Customer denied delivery

I shipped an item to the customer and the person was using a shipping forwarder. Now the shipping forwarder denied the package and supposedly the item is being returned to me. The return address is not mine- I do not put my return address because of stealth reasons. It is almost a $100.00 product. The shipping tracking says it was returned because "addressee was not known" Do you guys think ebay will side with me on this one?

If the package gets returned to the return address they will not. If tracking shows it wasn't returned to the return address I dont think they would, either.

They're not going to side with you on this one. If the tracking number never shows the return was delivered eBay will just automatically issue the buyer a refund after a certain period of time.

This same thing happened to me recently as a buyer. I bought an item that turned out to be phake and requested a return. Got a return label from eBay but the seller was using a stealth address. Return went out, and was eventually sent back to me for the same reason, "addressee not known". I was refunded and got to keep the item since the seller didn't have a valid return address on his account. Shortly thereafter the seller's account was NARU'd.

I'm not sure what is meant by this, but you won't win this.

Thanks for all the info, I tried update ebay with the tracking number so lets see. This buyer was using a RESHIP company which rejected the item... There is no way paypal will cover this you think right?

No, they won't cover it either. They'll say it's the sellers responsibility to get their own returns back. The forwarding address is irrelevant since Paypal is fine with them and you've already shipped the order there anyway.

Damn those type of buyers. What a pain.

Unfortunately no, eBay won't side with you on this. Don't you have access to the return address at all?

Dont even bother refunding returned non-deliverable address packages any more unless they inquire. 4 times out of 5 their IQ is so low theyve forgotten they even bought something....

buyer contacted me. I am just going to refund and eat the loss.

Sucks that you have to do that, but it is the best decision long term.

Minus 20% restocking fee + shipping costs?

Ugh.... I hate just giving in like that... but maybe it's for the best.
Try to get access to your address and get that item back though

There are ways to not eat the cost. There's Pirateship which you can print labels as cheap as ebay's labels and be able to get the package back.

Re: Customer denied delivery

If shipping something of value that you can't lose, always use a real return address.

On my stealth accounts that I'm selling cheap items, I use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ return address because I don't care if the customer loses it. Most of the time, I tell them to not even bother shipping it back.

For higher priced items that will hurt my bottom line ($300+), I always use a real address.
