promote your listings
 

so im sure this has been around for a while now i think. but i just noticed now on eby when you create a listing they offer an option to "promote" your listing more and if the item sells they charge you extra for the promotion etc...

anyone used this successfully? seen real results?... seems interesting :clap:

On Ebay I spend about $70 in promotion fees per month to bring in $1000 extra in gross sales.

On Amazon I spent about $1200 in promotion fees to boost visibility and bring in an extra $5000 gross a month. Amz is pay per click so once you've got some sales velocity I stopped promoting - fees were adding up quickly but will make me more money in the long run.

IMO, 90% of the time it's only worth the extra fees for dead/stale inventory.

Definitely. If listing is already on front page 50% chance consumers will click the promoted listing instead.

EDIT

But, another way to look at it is you now have up to 200% better chance of making a sale.

1 of 25 listings on front page = 4% chance.
2 of 25 listings on front page = 8% chance.

Bumping 1 competitor's listings off front page.

Time is money.. so I like moving more inventory for the cash back, Cassini search advantage, and starving out competitors haha.
