Is stealth over with Adyen?

As others have stated here already, Adyen is technically a bank. So supplying ⊗⊗⊗⊗ docs to a bank is criminal.

Is the stealth game over as soon as Adyen is fully implemented?

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

Quite possibly. We'll see.

I suspect a lot of people will (try to) turn to fraud which eBay/Adyen will already have measures in place to prevent. Should be a good thing for those able to survive since the competition in lots of niches will be slashed.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

Competition won't be slashed because of this. People who weren't banned before will take over the market.

I think stealth on eBay is done on a very tiny scale. Most categories are already occupied by legit accounts.

It's funny how companies act like school kids. I feel eBay took the "I will cut my nose in spite of my face" approach in this case.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

Competition in the categories I'm selling in will be slashed without a doubt, at least for a period as sellers adapt. I've already noticed it as PP has been rolling out the "claim it" feature in the USA over the past couple of weeks. There's a noticeable difference in the amount of listings for products we stock. That could be partially due to Chinese New Year but I've seen several competitor accounts I follow stop selling altogether out of nowhere. One day I check them out and all of their listings are gone and there's no surge in negative feedback to indicate an account suspension. If it were CNY stock issues you wouldn't expect a seller to take down every listing all at once. I'm most likely competing with more stealth accounts than legit accounts.

Regardless though it's not going to be good for stealth. Just look at the attempts there have been to "stealth" etsy so far.

What is the exact time frame on this? People should start preparing now, as I having a feeling many will be forced out of the game completely.

Paypal will still be an option until 2020 right?

How can we force ebay to delete our old info / accounts. Is this not a privacy issue?

Mid 2020 if you think about it that's not quite a long time left.

No, PayPal will be the default option till 2020. Still an available option till at least 2023

Maybe on eBay in other countries but I think once they integrate PP into managed payments, we'll start seeing Paypal being phased out as an option for sellers. :pout:

Could you elaborate on what you meant by managed payments?
Will they hold your money and pay you out after x days or something similar?

Yes. eBay will be controlling all payments and will give you daily payouts directly to your bank account, like how merchant accounts work now.

eBay is holding off on a mass roll-out of managed payments for now because they're still working out how to add Paypal payments (for buyers) into it. They know buyers prefer Paypal so they won't start really forcing managed payments on sellers until Paypal is fully integrated. This info is coming directly from eBay in an announcement they sent by message to sellers with business accounts last week.

Once they work out the bugs and have a way to offer PP to buyers on the managed payments platform, I'm betting we will lose the ability to setup a new account accepting Paypal payments relatively quickly.

PayPal is more of a bank than Adyen will ever be, I mean let's be real, it's just that PayPal is so huge it can't prevent people from using ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details. It's not gonna be over, not unless European Union does something like SSN in the US which I really doubt is gonna happen.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

I actually went and looked this up and PayPal is not a bank, but Ayden is, so false documents will have to be presented. Unless your laundering money or selling fraudulent items I doubt they will actually do anything if you discovered. The law is interested in actual criminals. Plus, they have to find you. if you're covering your tracks like you supposed to I doubt that will happen.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

I'm not sure what's so confusing for everyone here.

It is over, there is no way around adyen unless you steal other peoples info. Unless you can use the same adyen with multiple ebay accounts and ebay doesn't link the data. After looking more into it, it's done on ebay.com platform. So ebay has access to all the data including bank etc.. So to me, that means it's over. Unless you can figure out away around adyen. So balls to the wall now and make as much as you can ,because in about 1-2 years it's all over. Sure they will let you accept paypal later on, but does that matter when you don't have a REQUIRED valid adyen account? Nope.

Don't think that you're going to use stolen information. What happens when you go over 20k and joe smo gets a 1099 in the mail? You think he's gonna smile and say oh i'll just throw this away and ignore it.

Nope.

It's over. Of course, you have your family data to use for a handful of accounts. You could potentially create new LLC's, but then that depends if adyen allows you to use a stealth name with a legit LLC ein. We don't know that yet.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But, these are just the facts.

I would read more and more on etsy works, how etsy people get around it with mexico, that's where people need to focus on right now, how to get around it. Perhaps the key is creating a ebay account which doesn't have adyen. i know UK does and i hear asian ebay is hard..

UK Ebay might be starting to use Adyen but there's no SSN over here. ;)

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

It will just be harder and take more time to create accounts. Those that can't handle that will drop out. If your business depends on it than there will always be a way.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

So do we have until mid 2020 or do we have until 2023 to sell on stealth? Very confusing info out there.

Guess I need to check my emails... I didn't see anything last week.

For US it's over, there's a huge unregulated market in Europe.

ebaystealth1974 03-15-2019 01:21 PM

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

I never really thought about it, but it's going to be an absolute MESS converting millions of seller accounts over to the Ayden system.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

I hope ebay reinstates sellers when they roll out Ayden and give us all another chance.

I posted that 4 weeks ago so you'll probably need to go to page 3 or 4 of your trash folder to find the eBay message.

Re: Is stealth over with Adyen?

Like Aspkin said, it'll take more time to make the accounts. When your life depends on it, there'll always be a way to do it.

Consider this a weeding out time. Those who persist will make it. Those who need help will always be able to get accounts from sellers in the market place.

And I'm also guessing the amount of scammers outside the forum posing as legit account sellers will increase.
