Beginner question - what's the point of ebay selling limits

Whats the point in eBay giving you selling limits when you can't sell that many without risking getting banned?

Or to put it another way, if I'm going to buy an account, why would I pay more for a 1000/25000 account if I still need to sell really slowly over the course of a few months?

All my accounts are from a time before seller limits so I've never experience any of it

Because the limits are there for when you need them. Some people also list many items but sell few. Some people sell hundreds of small value items.

It really does come down to what you need for your business model.

So, a 1000/25000 account is still as likely to get banned if I sell too much in the first 3-4 months?

But after, say, 4 months of selling, I can list the full amount without waiting for increases?

Just sell gradually, increasing sales in a consistent way and you will be fine. You don't want any large spikes in sales basically. It makes paypal nervous.

Thanks!
I don't intend to sell too quickly, but if I do, what happens? Assume its paypal rather than ebay that will suspend me? Is is possible and relatively easy to recover from the suspension or is the account toast once the suspend you for selling too quick?

Is it possible the 1000/25000 eBay account stronger than 10/500 account?

A higher limit account is not necessarly "stronger" than a lower limit one. Age, and selling history play a far more important factor.

It's stronger, but then again if your behavior becomes suspicious, they'll flag it regardless.

So why risk it?

What exactly happens if PayPal flag you for selling tok much? Is it an instant ban? And how do you recover from it?

I agree.....what is the point......

I want a billion dollar ebay selling limit, and unlimited listings......

no security limits or kill switches......

all instant payments and I want to be able to rub my magical genie and extract the cash directly out of my computer screen with no serial numbers to be traced................
