Ship From Address

When selling on stealth accounts - when mailing a package, do you use your actual ship from address or the stealth account address? My stealth account is in a different state, and I'm wondering if eBay will notice that the tracking does not match the return the correct orgin state. Also, I don't want to commit any sort of mail fraud. I use stamps.com - not integrated with eBay.

Use your real address through stamps.com and you won't have any problems. I promise.

I hope you aren't messing with me :)

Ok - I see it in the stealth guide now. We should use our own address.

Re: Ship From Address

Yeah, you really should. Jokes aside.

There have been people here in the past who got into trouble with USPS for shipping packages from multiple stealth addresses. Also for the sake of accurate Priority Mail rates, your ship from zip code needs to be correct on labels.

Re: Ship From Address

did you ever have problems with customers for that? maybe even a stealth in a different state than your "ship from" adress?

Not me, but plenty have had that problem. If you ship packages with a stealth address it's inevitable for you to get a few returns to that stealth address.

It can be avoided by :
a) adding a valid return address to your ebay
or
b) emailing return shipping labels from an external postage source

if OP is suspended by eBAY,NOT a good idea to use the address used by the suspended ebay account.
But your return address should be yours, what if it cannot be delivered, you want the package to come back to you

It's ACTUALLY a perfectly good idea if you want to be able to receive your returns. You won't be linked back to your old account by a return address due to the hundreds of sellers using fulfillment services on eBay.

It's really the most efficient way to handle returns on a large number of accounts.

If you're uncomfortable doing it, well okay then.

Re: Ship From Address

I just tape my real address over the stealth one. Granted, all my stealths are in same zip so no cost issues.

Never had an issue in over a year.

Re: Ship From Address

It would only become an issue in your case if the buyer decided to initiate a buyer-faulted return on eBay because eBay would give them your stealth address.

Of if your post office decides to ask about why all your shipments look sketchy, which has also been reported here in the past. Honestly you're making your shipments look unnecessarily suspicious in the age of abundant dark net shipments in the mail stream.

Once I went to a post office to drop off some packages and the clerk noticed my return address is not in her area, she said she would make an exception this time, but I should go to the post office in my return address area to ship my package

That's an interesting concept...

Since zoning system is here..

Could put a non-deliverable address in a zone 1 in your area, then put the actual delivery address as the return. But obv dont. Lul.

There's been people go as far as using stealth addresses from different regions in the country in order to get the best Priority zone pricing, and then fraudulently filling out USPS change of address forms in order to get returned shipments back from those stealth addresses. Now that First Class has zone pricing also I guess it's an even more tempting idea. Still though, highly illegal on multiple levels and probably not worth the $70 or so you'd save a week on postage.

The guy I mentioned last week was doing the same thing, except with multiple stealth addresses. Eventually his post office told him he needed to register with USPS as a dropshipper in order to ship packages with multiple different return addresses regularly.

Yea, naw, would get noticed eventually by your friendly neighborhood PO. Would wager packages dropped directly off at the distribution centers could work, though. I BELIEVE you walk in the back into a room with big bins sorted by mail type. That would work. It would save me personally roughly $350 a week. No centers close by here tho.

Downside is increased time of delivery, maybe up to 3 days.

Re: Ship From Address

You can use the same return address on all your packages as long as you don’t purchase the label on eBay.
