Below Standard Seller level

I made the mistake of canceling 5 orders and not saying "customer requested to cancel" I know, I know. I messed up. I wasn't aware of this till recently. I didn't know Below Standard could affect you as a seller. This happened in December, I wasn't aware I needed to continue to sell without hiccups to raise the level.

Current seller level
Below Standard
but there is still time to improve
As of Feb 20, 2019

Transaction defect rate
21.74%
5 of 23 transactions

Late shipment rate
2
2 of 9 transactions

Those are my current stats. I'm told I have till 22nd of this month to improve. I didn't sell anything Jan or Feb since i wasn't aware about seller levels until I looked into it more carefully. I've already sold 7 items this month so far and currently have another 5 listed. So if they sell that should be 12 total this month. When I called rep said i needed to sell over 250 items just to become above average again. What can I do to avoid my account from closing? How many items do i need to sell a month? Will I keep getting extensions if everything goes okay?

Re: Below Standard Seller level

I had been in the exact same situation before, but with different sale history. I also wasn't aware that being below standard could toast my account. I called eBay many many times and spoke with a lot of reps until on a Friday night a cool rep happend to take my call. The guy was sympathetic and told me he would remove 2 out of ~ 50 defects, he told me I have to submit an application for the removal of all 50 defects and I only have until Monday, because that was the day when the 90-days period is over. I had no option but to say thank you and hope for the best. So I hung up the phone and went to smoke a cigarette... 15 minutes later the phone rang and it was the same rep! He told me that he didn't have the authority to remove all the 50 defects himself and it was already late that day that the people working at the responsible department have already left, but he decided to remove all of them so that my account doesn't go into the "below standard" mode.

Moral of the story is ---> call eBay and don't give up until you get a rep that will remove all of them for you. Be straightforward and show the rep that you had no idea how dangerous going below standard really is.

Good luck!

P.S: From my experience, many reps working at eBay have unlimited privileges in terms of removing defects, suspending and unblocking accounts as long as the seller hasn't defrauded eBay or its customers. You just have to be lucky/persistent enough to get the right one talking to you.

Sometimes if you stay below standard for several months, the suspend the account. You have to have sales history to dilute the account. That should be really easy to do with those numbers you posted. Sell 100 perfect orders and you will be good to go per say. That being said, just because you come out of below standard doe snot mean your search will be better right away.

I called eBay and rep told me because its been over 90 days they cant remove it. Not sure if that's true. Should I keep trying?

Edit: Just re read your response. Looks like I'm screwed at this point

Well I called again, this time got an American rep which was nice for a change. He basically said to keep selling and avoid cancellations, I shouldn't have much to worry about

From ebay for Transaction defect rate

"If the metric(s) above show continuous improvement from March to April, we'll give you more time. Your transactions in April should be better than your transactions in March. View your monthly breakdown to track your progress."

He is right. You should have called before. What happend happend. If this is your main account (with real info), then start selling cheap items that won't get Vero hits...etc as soon as possible. The good thing is that you don't have much sales on your account, so making things right is doable.

Good luck!

Not much you can do except avoid the same cancellations. They count them over a 12 month period so it takes a long time to get rid of the defects.
Last time I checked it costs you an extra 4% in final valur fees for being below standard which isn't too bad if you're low volume.
