Is buying an account and then changing it's password bad?

I heard that someone here bought an account and changed the password and got flagged and suspended for it. Does ebay allow you to do this or do they consider you stealing the account or something?

it really depends. your ip, the ID history & activity... and more other factors
but most people are ok as far as i know.
i had an id idol for about 6 mos, when changing the pwd my ip's different. so it got flagged had to do an automatic phone verification. but i would guess if i didn't do the phone verification, after certain time, it will get suspended eventually.

It's probably a bad idea to buy an account, log in right away and change the password.

Think about it, the account was created from a different IP. The login before you was from a different IP. The bots think you are hijacking the account.

Log in a few times (a day or two apart), browse around. Add some stuff to your watch list. Then change the password after maybe a week.

That wouldn't look so bad.

I don't do it. I wait a couple of weeks before I even start on any accounts. And now that I have had to buy a couple accounts since Ebay changed their rules and I am doing the same - let them sit and then start changing stuff. But, I don't list anything of value until Paypal stops holding my funds.

I am very sure thats what got me stung the other day - don't change any passwords for awhile I am thinking.

It makes sense. What I plan on doing is buying an account; start working in Auctiva since I don't need a token to save listings. And then after a month and start paying for Auctiva, go in a change everything. This way, I won't be behind on doing listings for a new account and can be up and running fairly quickly.
