Re: Listing duration

eBay is making all BIN listing good til cancelled.. maybe they're making adjustments to auction style listings behind the scenes. eBay has never really liked 1-3 day auctions..

Re: Listing duration

It's no secret that eBay is slowly moving away from auctions. There is a lot of information online to support this notion.

Auction worked well initially for eBay when customers are willing to sacrifice speed for lower price. The format quickly lost traction when Amazon entered by selling branded, high-quality products at a fixed price with quick delivery. Customers fled from eBay for the novelty and better services at its opponent.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if eBay just did away with auctions entirely at some point in the future. The writing is on the wall.

Re: Listing duration

Damn I like 3 day auction because I don’t care what it sells for I just set it and forget it until 3 days later

Re: Listing duration

My top rated powerseller I can do 3 day auctions so it might just be until my new account has 10 or more feedback

Re: Listing duration

was it 10 feedbacks before you can list anything under 7 days auction now?

Re: Listing duration

Must be I guess who wants to wait 7 days lame

Re: Listing duration

The shortest auction duration on a new account is actually 3 days. After 10 feedbacks, the "1 day" option will be available.

This to prevent new people from quickly scamming and dashing.

That is what I was thinking.

Used to be fine to do 1 day without any feedback then they put in an account requirement. Likely that they are doing the same for 3 day auctions now

That clarified my suspicions. I was starting to get a little confused and wonder if something changed again.

So now we need to figure out why even the 3 day option is not available for him.

oh i guess i read that wrong oh well i usually do bin anways its no big deal at the moment since I'm just slowly building and aging it for the next 2 months until its 6 months old.

Re: Listing duration

I just checked one of my accounts and see the following options for "Auction-Style" listings:

1 Day
3 Days
5 Days
7 Days
10 Days

Of course this account has more than 10 feedback. The new accounts with less than 10fb don't have the 1 day option.

SaiJin 04-17-2019 01:13 PM

Re: Listing duration

but at least it has a 3 days so it's fine.

I like 3 days. Sometimes even 5 days.

Re: Listing duration

cool well i should have 10 feedback soon so no worries i like to move slow anyways so my accounts will last for years to come.

Re: Listing duration

With the way eBay is slowly transitioning more and more to an Amazon like marketplace, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if eBay starts curtailing, or even considers eliminating the auction format completely. I read a lot of stuff to this affect on other ecommerce forums, and see more discussion about this. There is no real money for eBay in auctions, they have long emphasised a buy-it-now format.

Also, just as Phaz above states, they recently changed all BIN listings to good til cancelled. That, along with other changes like the move to Managed Payments, and their Product Catalog should be a big clue where things are headed.
