Windows 7 Support ending in January 2020

As above.

Any thoughts on support for Windows 7 ending?

I use W7 now, wondering what W10 is like for Stealth?

You know what? Just like Windows XP, a lot of W7 users are going to hold onto it for dear life, even past the EOL deadline.

Here's the bulletin:

Windows 7 is due to reach end of life (EOL) in less than 500 days on 14 January 2020, but around 40 per cent of the world's computers, most in corporate environments, are still running the venerable nine-year-old system.

For the first time, Microsoft has publicly stated that it will carry on supporting Windows 7, for users willing to pay. It did the same with Windows XP, but those deals tended to be done behind locked doors. This time, Microsoft is clearer - if you've got the cash, it has the means.

Prices will vary depending on volume (charges are per machine), and how far out from the EoL date we are. So by January 2023, which forms the absolute stop date, stragglers could be paying a pretty penny.

BTW, I'm also one of the many still using Windows 7 Professional. I have it running on three of my notebooks, and 2 workstations. I absolutely can't stand, and refuse to move over to Windows 8 with it's "metro" tiled UI interface. W10 is no better and has so much crap in it, it would make a toilet scream.

I'm sure I'm in good company. W7 is not broken, why upgrade?

I'm sticking to it for another 5 years or so at the very least ...

The older the system the easier it is to exploit. For security reasons I would upgrade. Windows 10 which feels lighter now than 7 and does better in resource management depending on your hardware. Also if you expand you might need some apps that require W10 or perform better on W10. For expansion and security I pick W10 but you can use W7 if you like.

"Since Windows 7 was originally released in 2009, hackers have had a longer time to discover exploits and create clever tactics to compromise users. Knowing of these tactics, Microsoft created Windows 10 with completely new code, making many of the Windows 7 specific exploits harmless to its users."

I've not needed any support for W7 in all the years I've been running it. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I never update it, because that's when your system always starts acting weird lol

I didnt like W8 - it was dreadful

Win 10 though is pretty similar in interface to W7 and for me works fine day to day and for stealth.

Windows 7 & XP are my favourites.

Windows 10 - I am still not won over.

Windows Vista and 8/8.1 were essentially the experimental versions of 7 and 10 respectively.
