Question about using funds on eBay after the Adyen switch

After the big Adyen switch happens (in the next few years), will I be able to keep and spend my funds in my eBay account rather than cashing out to a bank account?

Thought I'd ask.

Because I'm already using it. There's no "balance" anywhere so there's nothing for you to spend. Payments clear in batches and are transferred directly to your attached bank account, just like on Amazon. You're required to add a bank account that matches the name on the account before you can even accept any payments.

How is this practical for first time/single item sellers? For example, the average joe who just wants to sell one or two cheap items (say under $20) on ebay, every now and then.

What's the way around this then? It seems silly to do payments like that, especially for micro amounts (like $0.99 items). How do I send money to other people, like I can now with Paypal? Anyway to cashout ebay/Adyen earnings to Paypal?

How can we continue stealth?

How many accounts do you run under LLC setup.

That's the issue, many sellers here burn accounts often. Those sellers are dead.

Ya looks like the whole ayden process is meant to weed out scammers not so much people trying to get back on that we’re banned makes sense since now you need a SSN just to hold a balance in Paypal ebay is just trying to weed out all scammers and make ebay a safe trading environment which I’m all for

The truth is, eBay bans people for stupid reasons. I've had legitimate accounts of mine banned in the past for doing nothing more than selling a vero item (luxury bag), even though it was genuine and I had the original reciept. It's really ridiculous.

Re: Question about using funds on eBay after the Adyen switch

Nobody wants to hear it, everyone thinks there will be ways past it. The simple fact is they are requiring SSN and bank accounts to match the name on the account.

You can't bypass or ⊗⊗⊗⊗ this. Stealth WILL be dead except for people willing to steal identity info(And make bank accounts with that info, Federal crime).

I don't like hearing this stuff either. I have 10 stealth accounts, I don't churn and burn like many people do, but do like having 10 unlinked accounts for multiple reasons.

Plenty of time left :) I’m fortunate I never burned my SSN but might aswell use stealth until I have to add it to a fresh account

How exactly are they going to see the name of the bank account holder? they do not have access to that information.
If they cannot see the name of the account holder then stealth is still very much alive - perhaps not for international users though who cannot get a US based bank account so easily.

Re: Question about using funds on eBay after the Adyen switch

I didn't have to do micro deposits or a 3rd party "instant verify" when I added my bank into ebay managed payments.

Coinbase checks the name on your bank account. First and last name have to match or they'll reject it and tell you it's because names don't match. eBay could be using the same technology on their new payment platform.

We'll have to sit back and wait until somebody tries to add a mismatched bank account.:pop2:

It's typical for payment providers verify the bank account holder by simply making two tiny deposits into the account which they then retrieve via an ACH debit. It's during this DEBIT (pulling the funds out) the name on the bank account is revealed to the payment provider.

Read the Fedwire's ACH manual regarding ACH messages. Also any bank will tell you the same thing. When funds are PULLED from an account, the initiator will see the full name of that account holder.

Re: Question about using funds on eBay after the Adyen switch

Unless you send a copy of your bank state, I have a feeling that it would be hard for them to reject a different name on your account. Privacy policy comes to mind for one. So I guess we just have to wait and see what happens.

agent006140 05-08-2019 08:49 PM

Re: Question about using funds on eBay after the Adyen switch

I have been hearing all along on Paypal forum,PAYPAL does reject the bank account you are trying to link when names do not match,it does not have to wait till it makes 2 deposits to your account.
John Smith must match with John Smith, not J Smith or Johnnie Smith.
But then folks on this forum keep saying it does not matter??
who are we to believe?

Re: Question about using funds on eBay after the Adyen switch

PayPal has long had the capability to see the same on the bank account, just as any other payment processor does.

The real question is: What would PayPal actually DO if there is a mismatch? Would they remove the account, or just do nothing? It's been my experience they don't really care, even though you are be sure they are AWARE of the mismatch.

well, they just wait till AYden deposits the money into their bank account,AMZN does that when folks sell a used DVD or book.

This is a very good question, and something I have thought a lot about.

I was asking myself if people who were just selling a couple items around the house going to put up with all this crap?

I think the answer is one that many long time sellers knew all along, that eBay was becoming more like a Amazon type of marketplace that emphasises large sellers. eBay doesn't think there is any real money on the guy selling his garage sale/household items. The real money is with volume sellers.

Maybe this shift is just eBay's way of slowly whittling away the small sellers on their platform as they have been already doing for years?
