ebay asking for SSN
 

I tried to list my first item, ebay asked me for phone verification.. after I verified the phone number, an other page came up asking for last 4 digits of social security number

is there anything I can do?

Is this a business or personal account? I believe for a biz account they have been asking for it in the beginning

I switched the account from business to individual then I tried to list it again, this time ebay didn't ask for SSN/Phone verif I wonder if it will ask me later ?

I have had this happen before years ago i just typed in a random 4 numbers and it worked for a few years but try your best to avoid having to put in the SSN

actually I was going to do the same thing but then I thought about switching to individual. I will try to type in random numbers and hope nothing goes south..

If I want to get higher limits i will need a business account

ya i mean when i did it it was years ago so maybe now there more on top of the ball security wise but i was able to sell for years after i typed in a random 4 best of luck wonder why they ask some people and not others from the start

I created my account as an individual then I switched to biz maybe that's why

Until managed payments started rolling out a year ago I'd never been asked by eBay for my SSN and I've converted 3 accounts to eBay business accounts. I guess it probably has something to do with them rolling out their own payment system.

Paypal would always ask for your SSN when you upgraded your account but not eBay. eBay wouldn't even ask for your EIN when you converted.. just your business name and address.

Don't do this too often...

And yes, business acc they'll ask for SSN.
