moral compass really, nothing physically stops you but some people just don’t steal.

It's the same thing that keeps you from stealing an item from your local grocery store? If the security/cameras or the chance of being caught don't deter you, than maybe it comes down to your morality.

I can't find any thread about what stops people from using stealth to scam, so I decided to post one and see what their thoughts are.. :pop2:

Because a great majority just want to still use eBay/PayPal after unfair treatment.

The scammers eventually get their come-uppance.

The core of here is to allow users to get back to selling.

Walking on the dark side means being excluded.

And rightly so.

what stops someone not on a stealth account from scamming? getting banned same principles apply along with most all accounts have a 21 day hold on funds so its a lot of work to just be able to ripoff someone not worth the time in most peoples minds I'm perfectly happy just to be able to keep an account and most like myself don't want to loose accounts if we don't have too. I hate scammers btw

It’s arguably just as easy to scam as a seller, all you need is a tracking number.

Not really, eBay's guaraante is pretty good. Nothing stops anyone from ending it all one day, most people here are in it for the long run, not to scam common folk.

you can't hide from the government. There'll always be a paper trail.
