Not selling like before. Has anything changed on ebay?
 

Hi everyone, So basically my items no longer sell or gain any attention as they used to before. Has anything changed for ebay sellers? I list 8-10 expensive items per month.

This is a normal cycle in the eBay world. There are other sellers who will now take your sales.

Basically what happens is that your items no longer get the views they used to get and thus your sales are slashed by a maximum rate of 60%.

Keep in mind that this is a temporary situation which could last up to 4 months.


Source? I have gone through this myself and watched my competitors do as well.

^^I can confirm sellers are seemingly cycled though^^

It could also be that you're account has been flagged for something and your listings are all showing up towards the bottom of search results.

Ebay does rotate its sellers,someone called and complain and told to be patient,Your turn will come!

There a lot of factors.. first you check if your items are good ranked then you check the sales conversion rate if it’s bellow 10% then you have to work on your listing (pics, description...)

I definitely believe in ebays cycle / rotation theory. I get a ridiculous amount of sales some months in high risk electronics category and then it slows down to only 1 or 2 items.

The key is to spread the items across multiple accounts if you can ... easier said than done as it's hard to get a fully verified stealth. I am still trying to get passed the £1650 EU limit here with paypal.

I believe it is from Ebay seller forum,but quite sometime ago.
I suspect Etsy is doing the same since it now has many more sellers,but I cant prove that.

How are you selecting these items? Have the amount of users or sellers sellling said items increase?

There is no infinite number of buyers,with so many dept stores,brick and mortar retailers,offering free shipping,10% coupon,small sellers like us are going to see a difference in sales,
My sales this year on EBay is nowhere like past years.

I'm getting a drought like never before on the eBay side, even as I continue to get sprinkled on the Amazon side. Normally the Amazon-eBay ratio is about 4:1 (four Amazon for every eBay) and the number of listings on Amazon is about 2.6x the number on eBay.

There's advertising promotion on both sites, but since May 22 there have been about 100 Amazon sales but zero eBay sales. And maybe a third of the eBay listings have no competitors. I've never seen it this out-of-whack...usually a slump or increase on one side shows up proportionately on another. I had to go check to make sure the vacation settings weren't on!

Funny you mention that date. That's right around the same time one of our older business eBay accounts went from averaging ~8 orders/day back up to ~30 orders/day like it was this time last year.

Maybe search results have been re-indexed. It can't be a coincidence that your store bottomed out around the same time mine started picking up traction again. We haven't added any new listings, modified promotions or listings, or done anything else on that account. It just randomly started picking back up a couple weeks ago. :noidea:

WHEN a person wants to buy something on internet ,unless he is a regular with WMT or TGT,then his first move is to go to AMZN,most AMZN third party sellers are true retailers selling online,and you can count on them providing professional service,unlike Ebay.
Ebay is getting worse and worse,the pictures are dark ,descriptions incomplete or none,it said look at pictures,how can you look at those pictures when they look horrible?
then there are the AMZN dropshippers,if you suspect they are dropshipping from AMZN,then why not buy it on AMZN instead.

Ebay should be kissing my backside to keep me on their platform then because all of my photos are professional.
