eBay dont care im over the VAT threshold..

So after some good searching online i cannot find a similar case with what i have so hopefully someone here can help..

Around 3 years ago, i let my eBay account go over the UK VAT threshold. I think at that time it was £82k but my eBay account went to about £105,000.

I never really thought about the VAT threshold at that time, i didn't really care to be honest as i was dropshipping with a very low profit margin. eBay never called me up on it.

After a while sales kinda slummed as i lost one of my dropshippers. My yearly turnover dropped to around £50k.

However over the last year its picked up again and right now its at £92K (over the threshold again).

What i am asking is, why do you think eBay has not picked me up for a VAT number? Ive read so much about accounts being suspended even when there no where near the threshold, however mine seems to do just fine.

When eBay asks for VAT details, is it a automatic thing or they just find the account randomly and put a block on it?
My account is pretty old, registered 2010, has that gone anything to do with it?

Don't hold your breath they will get round to it. Only a matter of time.

I am not familiar with Ebay -UK,but on Ebay USA,Ebay never ask if any seller has a resale certificate or social security number when he /she exceeds 200 transactions AND $20k .
It is Paypal's job to ask for our social security number and send out 1099K form ,one copy goes to Internal Revenue Service and one copy to the Paypal account holder.
Are you sure it is Ebay UK and not Paypal? or whatever Payment processor is used on Ebay UK?

Go to Ebay seller forum and ask, plenty of sellers there, some never go to bed !
Most are US sellers, but may be someone knows something of UK rules or go to Paypal seller forum and ask.

NOw you can go to bed, sleep forever if you like.

You can clearly read that the OP specifically said his questions are in relation to eBay UK.

A. UK flag on his username
B. He writes eBay UK VAT threshold

You need to take it easy with your posts. It really gets confusing/tiring when you post so much in a thread when somebody is simply seeking a direct answer.

Stop posting rubbish.

The poster above has already given the correct answer, it’s merely a matter of time before eBay demand a VAT number.

Sorry, i am new to posting here and maybe i have caused some confusion by not posting in the UK section. Yes im talking about the the VAT threshold in the UK, not U.S.

But actually no, he has not given the correct answer. Because all im simply asking is WHY you think that i have not been flagged up yet. Yeah maybe it is a matter of time that they contact me about VAT, but all i wanted was some views as to the reason they have left me alone so far. Like i say, i went over the threshold to £105k, and now im at 92k. Some information ive found on this forum suggests that it is run automatically on data and once i hit a certain amount id be flagged up. But obviously this is not the case for me.

So any thoughts?

A glitch in the system perhaps ? Are all those sales within the UK ?

I think sales outside of the UK do not count. So if you hit that threshold with a mix of sales from UK / EU/ Worldwide that could be the reason. Filter down the sales for each region.

Don't jinx it my man. Number one advice is, have self-doubt.

Really, is that so? Is it possible you have been exposed to some heavy dose of radiation? :pound:
Thank goodness for tinsoldier, I would never survive keeping you in check.
But I love you because you amuse me.
