I actually had a celebrity purchase from me before as well, though from investigation I found he was the real thing and there was no request to send out elsewhere. What tipped you off he wasn't genuine--other than the questions? Just a hunch? I really don't see how they can tell when an account is hijacked. It's all just suspicions and he said/she said really. I mean, a person can SAY they were hijacked, but with all the IP hiding programs (such as AOL) out there, can you really be sure?

I know the feeling about having an auction yanked out from under you and not being able to offer second chances. It stinks. I started saving really good bidders names for just such an emergency a while back. I don't do it as often any more though. Too much of a hassle.

I had an account hijacked and ebay did nothing about it. The only good thing is when a subsequent account got banned, they limited it too.

Scammers are everywhere these days. They almost killed my eBay business when I first started with it. It seemed 1/5 eBay buyers were scammers. And since my product was delivered instantly (within half hour), I lost a lot of money quickly if I didn't go for the extra verification.

Confirmed shipping address, checked IP to match up, called to make sure a kid wasn't using their mom's credit card, checked the users Google info, username and email address. And I guess common sense.

Good times!

I still say you can never know for sure. Too many variables.

haha, true that.

On a different topic, can someone tell me how I can post a new thread to ask a specific questions?

JackNoMore 09-19-2007 08:56 PM

What, you mean on this forum?

Dark Shadows 09-19-2007 09:03 PM

Yes, on this forum. I see all the different threads, but I can't figure out how to create a new one. I have been poking around looking, and it's easy to respond to a thread, but how do you create a new one?

JackNoMore 09-19-2007 09:25 PM

There's probably more than one way but the easiest way I know is to go to the main page, choose the forum I want to post (depending on where the question is best suited), click on it and click the "new thread" button at the top of the forum. And you're in.
