Selling in USA market with UK eBay
 

Hi

Wondering if anyone has any experience selling in the USA eBay market using a UK eBay.

I’ll be logging in from a USA IP and using a USA PP.

I read somewhere that you need 10 positive feedback from the UK market first before being able to cross to the USA market?

This won’t be possible in my situation as I’m not located in the UK, is it possible to sell in the USA market with a new account?

you can list on ebay.com with a UK account, but i always noticed that the visibility is so low

Depends on what you sell,in some categories,the Brits have stuff we dont have.

yes of course if you have something unique you will rank, just from my personal experience i get less visibility with a UK account on ebay.com

Are you absolutely certain that the visibility issue is crossing an international account to another and not how the item is listed etc?

From what I have seen eBay separates them into 2 in one page. Local listings on top and then in the bottom it'll say "from international sellers" in the bottom. Even if it's on the first page.

again that's my personal experience and this was my outcome:

i list the same items in ebay.com with 2 accounts, one UK account and one US account

the US account outperforms the UK one by far..
accounts have practically same age and feedback

US ebay seller can pay extra to get listed on Ebay UK,may be same with UK seller.
In some categories,you will find all English listings-canada,uk,australia,us ON eBAY USA.

WHAT CURRENCY IN THE UK account,as buyer has to pay extra for currency conversion with PAYPAL.

This I'd like to know as well, let's say USA ebay account listing UK stuff, set item location in UK, how's the ranking on that? And yea do you need 10 feedback?

I think it'll still split the page into 2. top half for local, then bottom half for international listings.

I list on EBAY.com with uk acc but my location is USA so i'm not on the bottom page.

maybe that's the reason, as most buyers will buy from top page!
anyway the difference is huge in my case.. like US is 4x UK

US buyers tend to avoid buying overseas,one is shipping cost,two is currency conversion,if you are asking GBP,we have to pay Paypal 2.xx% for conversion,and then there is the exchange rate.
also it would take longer and what about return?

there is no added conversion fees for buyers! when you list on ebay.com you list with USD, the seller pays the conversions fees on his paypal if he wants to withdraw in GBP..

I'd recommend you use a fresh IP, UK VPN when accessing a UK account.

To sell outside of the UK, using an eBay UK account means you need to enable international visibility on your account, which allow you to reach clients outside of the UK.

To be eligible for this feature, you need to make sure:
a) You have an eBay account in good standing.
b) You have accumulated at least 10 positive *seller* feedback, and your feedback score is at 10.
c) Its been 90 days from the date you first sold an item successfully.
d) You meet the selling and item requirements of the international site(s) where your planning on listing (as each eBay site has a slightly different set of rules).

If you try to circumvent the above criteria, it can lead to your account being suspended.

What happens when u sell on UK and your account is less than 90 days old? It'll just prevent u?
