| | | agent006140 | 09-25-2019 08:11 AM | Ebay CEO stepping down search is on. |
| nickopedia | 09-25-2019 08:34 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down Cool, let's hope for changes from the top down.
Actually things were not that bad back in the day under Meg Whitman or John Donahoe. That being said, many of the policy changes within eBay itself didn't really come down from the CEO, it was usually VP's from within the org driving such changes.
What would I give to get the "old" eBay back when sellers could sell just about anything with impunity without risk of getting suspended. These days, eBay is beginning to resemble more of an Amazon, driving the smallish sellers out more and more. |

EVERYONE has a boss, and Devin Wenig was no exception. Maybe shareholders were not quite happy with the way things are going, or how sellers are being treated. We can all hope hope for the later, but I'm not holding my breath. |
| phaz0rz | 09-25-2019 09:23 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down Just another sign of eBay being driven out of business by Amazon, IMHO. They'll get a new guy in to try (and most likely fail) to better compete. |
| sergfro | 09-25-2019 09:29 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down EBay CEO Devin Wenig is stepping down as the company reviews potential sale of assets
What assets does Ebay have? |

Articles mention StubHub and the eBay classifieds platform.
Every article says exactly the same thing (as usual, because the MSM doesn't do any reporting anymore) so it's not too hard to find. Seems like a sign of bad times. |
| sergfro | 09-25-2019 09:33 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down maybe they'll start selling off their "assets" to turn out a good 4th Q
Cragistlist, StubHub and Skype maybe up for sale... |
| phaz0rz | 09-25-2019 09:46 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down As far as I know eBay broke all ties with Craigslist after selling their minority stake in CL back to CL in 2015. They no longer have anything to do with Skype either since they sold it to Microsoft in like 2010. |
| Leader2dark | 09-25-2019 09:51 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down We can all hope to see changes at eBay that are for the better.
Unfortunately, that is unlikely in the extreme.
eBay will continue to push forward their own payment system and try to compete with Amazon on everything from listings, returns, distribution, etc. Doomed to fail.
They need to embrace their niche. They need to support their sellers. People need to feel safe listing a MacBook or iPad for some quick painless cash. |
| Leader2dark | 09-25-2019 09:54 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down Also, anyone who has called eBay vs Paypal vs Amazon will know that eBay support, in general, is an absolute joke. Poorly trained and can't be understood at all. |
| walkingupwards | 09-25-2019 11:22 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down I have been contacting eBay for literally over a year trying to get them to do something about a category I am selling in and no reply on their part. The canned response I get is:
"We are aware of the issue and you're not the only person complaining about this, please be sure that we are working on it"
The problem I was contacting eBay about is related to search results, buyers are not able to find the items they are looking for because of a glitch. The glitch resulted in the respective category being dead in comparison to eBay.co.uk or eBay.com. Still to this day nothing has changed and I think nothing will change!!
eBay search sucks to death, maybe this is why people gave up looking for stuff there!! |
| agent006140 | 09-25-2019 11:51 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down Ebay has bad sellers as well as bad buyers,it cant back its sellers if it lets anyone everyone sells anything, everything.
The better sellers with good merchandise are not wiling to sell their better merchandise on Ebay .
Someone once told me,if you put the pricey stuff next to the junk, you are not going to get a better price.
Hence come the boutique auctions, they would not accept common junks .or blemished goods, they stay with EBAY |
| Pandoras_box | 09-25-2019 03:22 PM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down To me, this just reads as follows: "Things are bad and shareholders are unhappy! We're going to squeeze more money out of our sellers"
It's going to get harder to maintain TRS. Get ready to pay 10% more + ££ promotion fees and yet not even show up on the first page while still giving away your stuff to scammers for free at your shipping expense because eBay says so. |
| agent006140 | 09-25-2019 03:43 PM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down seller margin is so thin,no one can afford to pay more fee. |
| unkown5454 | 09-25-2019 04:06 PM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down EB has stood by me far more than AMZ when competitors attack me or i have fr.aud buyers.
Lost my AMZ account for 4 months after competitors attacked me, and i still have a f.ake trad.emark complaint i am fighting to remove. the competitor who claimed it is not even mentioned in my listings, photos, ads, etc, but AMZ approved the complaint regardless. none of this has ever come close to happening to me on EB |
| SaiJin | 09-25-2019 07:25 PM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down Hate to say this but amazon doesn't help you. It's amazing how such a giant company leaves the doors for abusers open. |

The past and the future still intertwined.
PayPal, your tentacles still hold tight. |
| agent006140 | 09-26-2019 07:13 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down Wenig succeeded Donahue,he is a tech guy ,few know anything about retailing.
Whitman runs a division for a toy company, she is never on the front line selling to consumers. |

| agent006140 | 09-26-2019 05:32 PM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down I cant find the thread but someone said Paypal is dead without Ebay, then I said THATS correct, then I recall how Paypal issues debit card, credit, card, working capita loan, line of credit to buyers on Ebay and other sites, these activities are much more profitable than processing transactions. |

You may not need Paypal but you would be surprised many do. |

I am top rated plus seller, not that it does anything for me.
Who is the smart one here?
Rule number one -dont get suspended, rule number two, refer to rule number one. |

(hint - none of us) | I sell physical goods, mostly collectibles and jewelry, sometimes electronics when I upgrade, all my items are in good to very good to mint in box condition and I have them all with me .
The last time I have a chargeback must be 18 years ago.
reading this forum,I wish Ebay holds an amnesty day and let all of you to return as you,no stealth,no grandpa ,no brother/sister.ex wife?
Paypal is a different story, they dont talk about it,but they have suffered huge losses !
Besides SSN and date of birth,do you know why they are asking for photo ID,think facial recognition using AI,better than the casino or TGT .
I think TGT uses facial recognition,no way to prove it. |
| agent006140 | 09-28-2019 10:26 AM | Re: Ebay CEO stepping down This forum is different, when you go to Paypal forum, sellers ask questions, mostly they have been scammed, either they dont know how seller protection work or they try to save money by not protecting themselves .
You go to Ebay forum, many angry sellers there losing a dispute, pay for return shipping, or getting no sales.
I have not visited AMZN forum, how are the sellers there?
Are they happy with their sales? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:20 AM. | |
