eBay scam buyers

Recently we sold a Microsoft Surface

The buyer received the surface and lied! Said he didn’t receive a surface and
instead received an old junky laptop!!

This is total BS and of course eBay is siding with the buyer with 2 feedbacks!!

To make matters worse this is the 2nd time in a month this has happened. The
other time was a brand new sealed 8tb hard drive we sent out. The buyer claimed he received playing cards and not the HD.

These are both blatant robbery of our items and falsely claiming they are
receiving other items.

So basically you can order anything on eBay and when you get it,
Just claim something else is in the box!!!

I’m outraged and eBay is totally facilitating these things. Among facilitating other
crap on their site. Why the hell do they get away with everything?

What can I do? I’m at my wits end with these fools and really want to organize a trip to San Jose!!

Yep then your filing a postal fraud claim and that they can expect the police to come to their door

Tends to stop these things happening petty fast

Unfortunately that's the price of selling online. You will occasionally have to incur a loss. If the loss is significant enough, it may be worth notifying the authorities.

Sadly, there is nothing the police or government will do to protect you in this instance. In the US, you'd be lucky if they even take a report let alone do anything else at all.

I know of cases where the amounts involved were well into the 5-figures and even then the authorities won't do much of anything.

This is the cost of doing business, unfortunately.

Better,
if the loss is significant.it may be worth considering selling something else instead,or not sell at all.
Switch a roo,Ebay rental-Police cant do much,Ebay will make note if your buyer keeps doing this,he would be suspended from buying on Ebay as he becomes a hazard to the Ebay community .
No one has seen the item but you and your buyer,so the seller usually lose, dont sell anything you cant afford to lose
