eBay is a complete waste of time. Why continue to sell there?

I need a simple cable to connect the USB port on a laptop to a HDMI cable on a TV. STANDARD port on 99.99999% of laptops and TV's in existence. $9.99 item

Just try searching for that on eBay. I have 20 years experience on eBay. Can't find this. Completely buried under *HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS* of irrelevant items.

Just search for USB to HDMI cable.

eBay is broken. It is hopeless. I've sold millions of dollars worth of merchandise on eBay but this market is just complete trash and we should all focus our efforts elsewhere.

Of course I was able to find it. I was able to find thousands of them.

Moral of the story is this is a trash market.

Not getting the point of this thread at all.
If youre that unhappy then stop using the site.
Whats the point of trying to preach this to others though when you KNOW nothing will come out of it and it will have zero impact? Just venting value for you?

eBay works fine for the majority of users.

Despite everything EBAY is still the best E-commerce platform for fast money and cash, for used items I confirm EBAY is far away in comparaison with any other online platform, but is trickier and harder as the old EBAY

One thing they are definitely doing with their strict seller rules and regulations is driving people to the Facebook marketplace and other "used item" websites. In the UK anyway.

It's clear ebay are threatened when they constantly advertise that people get paid more on ebay than facebook marketplace on their uk homepage. I mean why even mention them on ebay if you aren't threatened.

eBay is seeing less traffic nowadays, there was a time where eBay did beat Amazon in terms of traffic though.

What drove people off eBay is not the speed of shipping, it was the quality of the products being sold on eBay.

eBay is officially the junkyard of the e-commerce world and eBay is responsible for that.


They could fix this, but it will be a painful process and I don't think any CEO has the balls to suggest doing that for the fear of investors getting nauseous.


The fix is simple, make eBay more attractive to serious businesses... the first step would be kicking off all amateur sellers who sell stuff to make pennies in profits.


Once big brands and big companies start selling on eBay again, people will take notice and come back.

I already stopped selling on eBay and found 9-5 job at Tim Hortons. OP you should do the same.

well said,invstors would not object to kicking out all the garbage sellers,they want their stocks to go up.
many small and medium retailers would love to have a sales venue to sell where there are so many eyeballs and shoppers like Ebay now that AMZN has decided to promote the most profitable items on its site and decide its own private brands are more profitable.
Ebay does not compete with its sellers,so Ebay should revamp and attract better sellers.
The only problem I SEE for true retailers selling on Ebay is that small sellers would sell them dirt cheap ,they are happy to make a slim profit as their overhead is lower,Ebay would have to do what AMZN does,hide these sellers .
Since APPL STARTS selling on AMZN,the third party sellers who sell refurbished and returns of APPL products are not getting much sales,

If I stopped selling on ebay, I would loose a significant amount of income. Why would I want to do that OP? I dont think your advice is very helpful :)

well,the CEO of that billion dollars company resigned or let go,someone,major shareholders/board of directors do not think he knows how to run Ebay /
Look at AMZN and look at Ebay,or even Etsy!
