| | | joeygu | 12-03-2019 10:22 AM | endless captcha loop !? Today I tried to login ebay then encountered this "verify you are not a bot" captcha loop.
I sign in, captcha, I complete captcha, it just gives me another, and another, and another.... it's endless.
I could still go into "my ebay" page, but when I tried to send another member a message, endless captcha !
I then tried to contact ebay customer support, guess what? endless captcha !
What is this? Is it a glitch or did ebay actually picked up something unusual from my end?
I am using firefox + canvas defender on a mobile hot spot.
Any ideas? |

| Redman | 12-03-2019 11:07 AM | Re: endless captcha loop !? I really only encounter this problem now if I access the page to try and change my email, registration address, etc.
Captcha, login, captcha, success. At this point I just consider it a part of what I have to do now |

lol. For me it's captcha, login, captcha, confirm your phone number?, success.
I'm getting very good at puzzles. |

It's not a glitch it's ebays way of saying they're not happy with your VPN. I've got it on one of my (now ex) favourtite VPN's. :smash: | I am using mobile hotspot, no VPN. |

All my accounts (that I logged into) had captcha request today. These were sitting on VMs that don't remotely look or feel like each other.
I have back up of the same accounts under windows user / but these didn't request captcha when I tried it.
I don't use VPN.
I'm leaning towards what Phaz has implied above.
All the accounts on VMs had ancient versions of browsers. The windows/user accounts had newer browsers. |
| SaiJin | 12-03-2019 07:01 PM | Re: endless captcha loop !? So all of you are using your normal home IP?
And looks like it's UK and Europe accounts that get this? Not usa? |
| joeygu | 12-04-2019 08:35 AM | Re: endless captcha loop !? I updated firefox to the latest version, still nothing changed.
It just won't stop asking me to verify myself, I don't mind doing puzzle once or twice, but after 10+ puzzles, it is still asking me to verify...
There must be something going on here.
Maybe it's the mobile hotspot? Or canvas defender? |
| phaz0rz | 12-04-2019 09:21 AM | Re: endless captcha loop !? I'd say it's probably an issue with your browser and not IP.
Underneath the puzzle captcha eBay has a note that says something like "if you're having trouble rendering the captcha image, please try updating your browser or using one of the browsers in this link".
Next step would be disabling canvas defender, IMO. It could be that eBay is trying to gather info from your browser during the captcha and they aren't able to, so they keep asking you to do it over again. |

I use VPNs... a bunch of them and specially for all my Amazon stuff... 0 issues. |

Makes sense, but I've had this issue with new VM accounts and I just installed google chrome |
| joeygu | 12-04-2019 09:55 PM | Re: endless captcha loop !? This issue is driving me nuts, I can't contact other ebay member, nor contact ebay support, all I get is captcha loop.
I only have one laptop and canvas defender seems to be the only tool that prevents my current accounts being linked with the older, suspended one.
Canvas defender is also available in chrome web store, but as matter of fact it stopped working with Chrome since 2017, no fix so far.
I also tried another extension called "Canvas Fingerprint Defender", sadly it's unable to provide persistent noise but always changing automatically, I fear it may raise a flag with ebay.
Is there any other browser or extension I can try? |

| saiko1 | 12-05-2019 09:28 AM | Re: endless captcha loop !? Just as another data point, I recently had two accounts with this same behavior. I fixed the problem by upgrading Firefox to the latest version on each. Once that was done, I was able to log-in (via the process of Captcha -> Log in to ebay -> Captcha again -> ebay OK now.) |

Spot on here. I was using Opera and the only similarity between my VMs were the WebGL so I've used command line switch to block it on launch because I hate to use addons.
These accounts are many years old but I moved them to VM in recent months.
So basically this would infer eBay is fishing for information. If this is so, I no longer have to wonder why everything was alright when I used windows /user to access the accounts. -They possibly got what they wanted. |
| joeygu | 12-05-2019 08:48 PM | Re: endless captcha loop !? I have confirmed that the issue was caused by canvas defender.
With Canvas defender disabled, I can login just fine, captcha still appeared but only once.
Unfortunately now my new account is in risk.
Later I tried to login again with Canvas defender turned back ON, captcha won't show up anymore, I think it's because ebay already has the true fingerprint recorded.
So... yeah... no way to play around it?
If not, I guess my days with ebay will soon end. |
| SaiJin | 12-05-2019 09:21 PM | Re: endless captcha loop !? But if you just use dedicated user accounts, I'd think you don't even need to use Canvas defender. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:00 PM. | |
