do ebay collects sales taxes ?
 

hello, I'm new to eBay and please I need some help.

today I have sold an item on eBay, eBay added Tax fees to my costumer and when I checked my PayPal dashboard I have found this message from PayPal

"April 15 is fast approaching, but there’s still time to download and submit your tax documents from our tax center."

well, should I disable anything about tax on my eBay account, or eBay collects this tax for everyone?

I live outside the US and i can't provide any tax document to PayPal as the msg said.

Yes, they charge customers tax that they take automatically to give to uncle Sam for certain states.

Is your Paypal account an US account?
If so,then yes,april 15 th is Federal Income tax deadline .
Ebay collects state sales tax from your buyers and remit it to his state.
You dont have to do anything,in fact,if you look at the amount you received,the tax collected is not included

you are in Moroco,but is your Paypal account based in USA?

is meant for US paypal accounts,april 15 is deadline for filing federal income tax ,today is January 2,2020,there is plenty of time .
Are you sure you dont have a US Paypal account?

if his account is a Moroco account,this message should not pop up,Paypal is a US company,I doubt Moroco tax deadline is April 15.
For US paypal accounts,if you have reached 200 sell transactions and $20,000,Paypal will send you and IRS a 1099k,WHICH YOU WILL use to report your income on your form 1040.
We will get an email from Paypal when our 1099k copy for 2019 is ready.

IS UK deadline April 15th?
April 15th has been extended in USA due to the virus.
The message is just telling you your tax document is ready for download,if you do have one,it doe snot hurt to see what it looks like

eBay collects the SALES tax from customers which is something they report monthly or quarterly to each state on your behalf. When they tell you to download your tax documents they are referring to the fact that they are reporting your INCOME (revenue) to the US IRS. I am not an accountant but it is my understanding that you will need to file with the US IRS so that they can take about 35% of your money. There are some loopholes to avoid all of this of course by charging your US company from your home country company. Maybe it would be wise to see an accountant.

my PayPal based in morocco and I live in morocco. I asked someone in a FB group and replied to me this:

EBay collects and pays the sales tax on your behalf. The message from PayPal is a generic one. I got that also.
there was a US Supreme Court decision a while back where internet retail websites had to start collecting sales tax, so, eBay now does that automatically.

Well, I guess so...

Because I did get any mail from PayPal...so I presume it's okay. Because it doesn't relate to me because I don't use a US Paypal and I don't sell on eBay...
