Ebay will stop using paypal for payments, please clarify
 

Hello friends,
Excuse my ignorance, I read today that (I don't know when) ebay will send payments directly to your bank account rather than your paypal account.
If so, how do you deal with the fact that my bank account has my real name (and so not the stealth name) and I don't think any bank would allow you to register with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name.

the payee (you) would need to match the name of bank account holder,

from what i have read it is affecting business sellers, not everyone has a bank account so i cannot see it affecting personal accounts for selling odd used items, there is no mension of personal account type

but how can MP deposit your fund if you dont have a bank account?

So how do we solve this issue if we can't make a bank account with the same name of the stealth?

Just get a stealth account using your real name and all other details false maybe? Lots of people have the same name, and Ebay don't ban based on names so it shouldn't be an issue. That way, the name will match the account when withdrawing. If your existing stealth account is old enough and stable enough, you might even get away with changing your name on the account before using Managed Payments. If i'm likely to lose my accounts anyway, I will be giving it a shot

I was thinking this. Imagine if your name was John Smith and got banned, and then they banned everyone else who registered under John Smith. They'd lose 1000s of legit accounts. People are moving house all the time too

They actually do if you are prolific enough with the same name. Not sure of the number but I know a name that's banned because of abuse.

Logged in due to getting this email too. It does say BUSINESS accounts. Most of my accounts are personal so i'm guessing i'll get longer use of them before having to switch .. that said .. it doesn't actually say personal accounts that sell will have to use the new system … does anyone have any more info if personal account will or will not switch? Its easier to force this on businesses but personal sellers? Might result in loss of a lot of business for ebay if the push too hard?

It states that USA has already switched, so any US sellers can comment if it effects personal sellers?

not everyone has a bank account, if you are a buisness seller you obviously do.
the ones who do not have a bank account selling on ebay cannot join the managed payments, personal accounts who decide not to join the managed payments are more likely to remain using paypal but have low selling limits on there accounts and restrict any volume of "new items", from what info they have announced the word "Majority" of the marketplace could mean there is hope for stealth accounts, a tiny pocket of isolated sellers for ebay to moniter for suspicious activity on accounts,
if you buy a new item off ebay, at some point in time you might want to sell it, ebay will not refuse that buyer to use there platform to sell it
