Is a dongle different than having a hotspot from my phone? or they work the same and hotspot won't get me exposed to ebay?

Dongle is different than hotspot from phone but both ways give different IP

How about mobile WIFI hotspot. I have seen some cheap ones on Amazon. Do they work the same as a dongle?

At the end of the day, you have a SIM from some carrier/provider in your device. Whether it's a phone, WiFi Hotspot, or USB Hotspot wouldn't make a difference. Though it's likely the case that some providers are better than others, and different devices do have different band support. When people say dongles, they mean the latter two options. The difference is that those are dedicated devices as opposed to your phone. With your phone, you either need to generate a WiFi Hotspot or instead tether via USB (or even Bluetooth if that floats your boat).
