Changing ebay user id question? Will old name still show in history?

How to Change eBay Username?

I want to change some ebay user ids that have been sitting vacant for several years now.

Question. If I change the user id name and wait the 30/31 days whatever ebay requires to have the change of id icon disappear. Is there any trace of the original user id name left on ebay that is able to be found by other users?

I thought if you changed a screen name id several times ebay would show all the screen names a user has used in the past even after 30 days but when I went to check on a few people who I know have changed their user id's I can not find any history of their original id at all....just their current ebay user id and that's all.

I believe it just shows the current user id. But I believe you can see your past ids.

I got one that I have changed months ago and when I had an auction up on it... I could find nothing else but that id...I remember back in the day when you could see the exact dates user id's were changed and I am not sure if I am missing something or what...

Some of the accounts have the last names or portions of the persons name I aquired them from....just wanted to change with a fresh start that's all.

no you cannot see old ID once the 30 day period of change elapses

oompa....I just found for ebay US that you can still see the old id after 30 days.

1: be logged in to ebay.
2: Click on ID's feedback number
3: Click on "view more options" under Member quick links next to detailed seller rating.
4: Click on "view id history".

This sucks....you can still see the old ids even on a change that happened 4-5 months ago....other ebay sites maybe different but im guessing not.

Yes, you can see the old ID's
But after 30 days you have to know how to find the new ID.

If I had a account with the ID: Bob
I change my ID to Jane.
For the next 30 days if you do a ID search on eBay for Bob you will get Jane.
You can still locate Bob for 30 days after I change it.
After 30 days if you search for Bob you will get nothing.
So there is a 30 day period where the new & old can be linked by a outside person if they do a search.

^^What HWGA, said is what I meant, 30 days after changeover you can see old id, but after this I havent been able to find it, I will try your method ONE and see.

ONE how much longer after the 30 days can you see id - forever?

GreenBean 10-03-2009 04:55 AM

Stays on record forever. Starts from the first name when account was created , gives the time period the name was used as well.:ranger:

btw, every ebay, UK,Australia Antarctica has the same type of info.

What GB said also.

If you know what the ID is after the 30 internal eBay link you can still see it.
eBay will ALWAYS know what your old Id was forever.
But as John Q Public the info is limited UNLESS you know where to look.
