Did you guys know this? You have to call in and ask to get your FVF back, and it's not a given that they will even grant you it. But you have to call in. I just found this out, because of a $700 return, which is obviously a large FVF, and made me notice. I've lost $100's with this ebay scam.... ebay sucks so much.

I don't think this is the case in the UK, although your experience invites close scrutiny.
My monthly eBay statements depict FVF refunds from cases.

I'd really like to check to make sure that this is still the case.

The things is, it's specific to the types of situations. Such as partial refunds for returns. And possibly refunds that went through automatically after 2 days. And possibly some other types.

What the hell... is this a new policy or it just happened to you and you got blindsided?

I believe it's been going on for a long time now. I've only looked back to march ( they can only refund 60 days anyways, so I stopped digging), so who knows how far back. It's not a glitch. It is a function of the system the way it is currently setup. If the refund is in any way out of the norm, there is a good chance it will happen. All partial refunds 80% or less ( tho I had a 90% refund do this) will not automatically refund FVF. The system is treating it like a case closed without seller resolution, as far as FVF refunds go. What's worse, it's still up to CS discretion. I'm waiting on their decision on 5 cases I sent in.

It's bad for eBay, and good for service like Amazon

Cause they will move to AMZ because of these things

no need to move, sellers sell on both venues.
AMZN is not easier than Ebay,if you are using your prime account to ask AMZN to dropship to a friend, and your friend does notlike the item and return it back to AMZN,AMZN may not refund you.

Paypal has already done that,no refund of your fee ,cant recall all the details

sounds like you have more than your share of returns, what were /are you selling?

My return rates are 8-10% depending on the quarter.

thats high,
Paypal fee can be higher than 2.9% if your buyer is overseas 4.4%
if you lose a chargeback, then there is a $20 fee and you may not get your item back

I can see Paypal and Ebay reluctant to refund their share as THEY HAVE EARNED THEIR FEE.
Ebay provides a sales venue for you to conduct business, and PAYPAL processes the payment.
If there is any glitch on their part, they are at fault, but the problem you have is with the buyer not Ebay or Paypal.
Say I am a Doordash driver and I deliverDomino pizza to you,you order pepperoni and they give you sausage, does that mean I dont get paid for delivery?

I don't have overseas returns. And charge backs are a whole other thing entirely, that I haven't really had to mess with much. Except since I got managed payments, and it's happened 3 times this month already.

then you should find another venue/website to sell or qualify your buyers so you dont get any idiots.

That's assuming anyone actually knows this is going on. So far, it's been good for ebay. I'm sure they've made a ton of money.

2.9% fee is nothing compared to ebay taking the entire FVF, on top of paypal taking their 2.9% fee. I sell things that are complicated, and people are morons and keep buying the wrong part. I would have to micromanage the hell out of my sales to avoid it.
