Can I use routers for eBay sheath instead of new vpns

Hi
I seen on YouTube a guy using more than one router for his sheath ebay accounts he says each one has its own ip address just wondering has anyone used this method before.

Thanks

The concept of using a different IP address is right on but don't need separate routers etc unless you want to operate all the accounts at the same time (which is not something I need to do)...

If you post the youtube link then someone will tell you how, assuming this is his claim, a single broadband line puts an end to the multiple router/multiple IP solution.

There are special routers that can do that and the entry-level cost was around £300.

You'd also need and ISP that is happy to give you multiple live IPs, Like Talktalk or BT.
Just be aware that talktalk will give you addresses that follow closely, eg.: xxx.xxx.xxx.3, xxx.xxx.xxx.4 and so on.

We thought the risk was too great so we ditched it.

Depends what he means by different routers.

Each has it's own MAC address so swapping them out when needed will give you a new IP pretty fast and easy.

However it's not necessary to do that.

With a little bit of knowledge you can change your local IP address pretty easily in a few minutes just by changing your router's MAC address

Of course there are many different ways to change your IP address

And this is how I've always done it. But not all routers can do it, and I don't think the 2 in one router modems can either.

Right, the router + modem combos that ISP give you now don't make it easy last I checked.

I always tell ISPs that I'll use my own router and modem (I buy one separately) so I have more control and I don't pay that $10/mo modem fee.

It can probably be done, but wouldn't it be easier just to use a VPN for each account? seems a lot faster than having to switch out the router/modem each time you need to login to a new account
