Potential buyer incomplete delivery address scam?
 

Hi guys,

i'm clued up about the scenario of a buyer sending a change of delivery address message after purchasing leaving you wide open to a INR claim in their favour as the updated delivery address wouldn't match the one on the Paypal Transaction.


However I have a scenario where the buyer filled out the 2nd half of his address correctly but instead of putting his house number and street name added his email address. He then messaged me with his house number and street name:

Heres a dummy example:

Paypal payment:

Example1@hotmail.co.uk
Leeds
West Yorkshire
LS156TN

Then buyer messaged to say it should be :

27 Example avenue,
Didsbury
Leeds
West Yorkshire
LS156TN

Its a £90 item and they have 13 feedback.

Should a claim get made of non-delivery would paypal take into account the buyer paid with an incomplete address?

I have experienced that exact scenario twice. I just cancelled the transactions through eBay saying there was a problem with the buyer's address and blocked them.

Then again, I average 20 sells/day and look to pre-emptively eliminate potential problems as losing one sell doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I don't know about UK but for USA the delivery confirmation only shows the zip code. I would change the street address if it is in the same zip code. As long as it is delivered to the same ZIP code you are covered.

you can return his payment,cancel the order,ask him to add the new address to his Paypal ship to address and place a new order

There is a seller who sold a $24K antique watch to a buyer who has no shipping address in his Paypal account,but in the payment comment section add an address.
The seller called Paypal and ask if she is protected and the clerk said YES.
The buyer filed INR,and won.
