A better way to promote your listings without sponsoring them

Hi everyone,

So I’ve come up with a clever idea which I’ve noticed nobody is really doing on eBay which I would like to share with you all.

So at the moment I have one listing sponsored and sales are coming in nicely however I have many more listings which are not sponsored to save eBay fees.

What I’ve been doing is auctioning my items for 3 days starting bid 99p but I’ve also been listing the same item for buy it now. I’ve changed the title a little and the description so it’s perfectly okay to list on eBay.

Now what I’ve noticed is when people bid on my items they can also see buy it now for the same listings and on my other listings so buyers will end up buying my listing instead of bidding and many will still continue to bid.

I’ve also incorporated into my listings I have these available for buy it now please look at my listings and instead of customers bidding they go and buy the items instead.

From this simple strategy I’ve noticed my sales have increased massively today I finished with £462.97 and yesterday £335.82 and I only started yesterday. I’ve saved a lot on sponsored listings and getting many customers to now buy my items without the items being at the top of the search results or sponsored just buy auctioning them.

It’s definitely worth a shot for anyone looking to get exposure to their listings and to save money on sponsored adds.

The problem with auctions, people don't pay. I stopped doing auctions 10+ years ago. I suppose it can never hurt to take a chance though!

They pay today as eBay will suspend buyers accounts if too many hits on non payment, they are holding buyers much more accountable now as they are sellers.

So far not my experience, hell some of my ebay accounts wont let me require instant payment sometimes... i had an account last month with 5 NPB because they used buy it now, but never paid

You do still get the odd none paying bidder but most of them do pay as if they don’t pay they get strikes on their accounts and account suspension eBay are strict on people not paying for auctions won it’s not like it use to be.

Starting from this week I’m auctioning my items for 1 day only now and not 3 days just to increase sales even more so hopefully I’ll guarantee loads of sales
every day just by auctioning items now and to not forget I do have these items for buy it now so customers have the option of buying items as well.

Doing one day auctions as well your listing automatically gets on page 1 and once you get a bid for 99p or cent then your listing jumps above a lot of your competitors.

Important to note research so make sure items are selling well and sell through rate on Terapeak is at least 30% plus ideally 40%.

And sorry to blab on again but with people sponsoring items they have to increase profit on their sales so customers will see your item cheaply and bid to what your competitors are pricing their items up and sometimes bid even more and now and then may bid less but overall your make good money doing this strategy.

The myth about sposnored listings that you have to go with their recommended rate or higher is bogus. The category i'm in the recommended rate is 9% but i promote all listings at 2% and they are all at the top of page 1.

Hey princess, are you sure you re-invented this wheel?

This idea is quite popular on the internet. Andrew Minalto has postulated it on his old forum since 2012, but we've also discussed it here on this forum 2 and 3 years ago. Perhaps there could be older threads.

I'd take your confession privately if you want. :heh:

Interesting to know because I have never seen any posts about the post I wrote or on the internet it was something I just started doing getting success with it and noticed not a lot of sellers were doing it but I’m happy I wrote the post as I believe a lot of sellers should be trying this as it works and saves that big invoice bill at the end of the month

ok, but, how much are your items, and are your listings ending at a price that's affordable for you?

Lol yeah I do need some new pants haha.

It’s all about the sell through rate on terapeak higher sell through rate will mean items starting at a low bid will exceed the amount you anticipate for it.

If the sell through rate is low and you try and auction items then it won’t sell or will make a loss and your lose money on listing fees and the product. This is from experience I’ve had when my eBay got account flagged and since they unflagged it I’ve just carried it on now.
