What to declare to the taxman?
 

Hi everyone,

I’m new to registering eBay for self assessment well years ago I done it and just couldn’t get my head around it.

I want to do a better job this time so what do you declare out of your 12 month turnover?

I guess it’s stock, fuel, packing supplies, electricity, is eBay fees allowed to be deducted and is importing fees allowed to be deducted from turnover as well?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you want to be cheeky, say your pc/laptop was a business expense :)

Write a couple hundred off that way...

Haha yeah why not every little helps lol so is it okay to declare customs fees from China and eBay fees as well.

I’m still working in my day job so at the moment I havnt even registered for self assessment on eBay as already paying tax from my job.

Would anyone advise to register for self assessment now or wait to leave my job as I don’t really need the income from my job just happened to stay their.

Costs couple hundred quid to just get an accountant to do it for you. Why even waste your own time.

A couple of hundred. My Chartered Accountant almost charges that to submit my Self Assessment for me and my partner, never mind prepare business figures and returns.

That said, I do agree that there's no way I'm doing it myself, not even for a realistic fee.
