I don't know how Adyen will treat eBay sellers vs regular retailer vs high brand retailer. |

I don't think the items I am selling are problematic, the issue actually is on the part of fraudulent buyers :pout: |

Have you gotten any chargebacks with MP? |
| butterbear | 01-10-2021 04:55 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! lol yea, it's crazy, i had 0 on paypal last year but got 1 after 2 weeks with MP. They told me i didn't response the case and provide them the tracking numbers. I was like wth, the tracking numbers was already there......so i have to manually copy and paste the tracking again to the charge back case? lol.... |

For me. I put on the page 1 item per customer no international shipping. Buyer name on account must match buyer name on the address. Then on top of it no shipping to reship address. I also do checkup on the address to see any info on it. Then put signature on it. I think with pandemic it has made issues a lot harder for sellers. |
| ebaywanton | 01-10-2021 07:39 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! Leave a little insert card when posting items out.
Make the card read 'Thank you blah blah blah...' and then another small print which says 'we take scams seriously...'
That could do the job :) |

That could do the job :) | I've had good luck doing this when it comes to asking for positive feedback
I don't think its going to deter any scammers, they've already decided to get the item for free when they purchase it |
| SaiJin | 01-11-2021 01:10 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! So there's this system that designer brand retailers use that you guys could potentially sign up for called the 3D verification.
When a client pays for the item through adyen, the processor / visa / mc will send a verification code through text to the buyer's phone. Once the buyer confirms this, then
adyen will process the payment.
This will deter scammers from using a "stolen" card or claim that it's not them that made the order. |
| yankee | 01-11-2021 01:15 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! I did not read anything above but with MP, if a buyer does a chargeback as item not as described, You have to submit docs stating it was as described. You will loose 100% of them with a refund to the buyer. It is the number one downfall of MP. |
| littleredengine07 | 01-13-2021 10:47 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! Biggest problem with eBay of never thinking things through. eBay leaves scratch free with final value fee while we get shafted. I am just wondering how the heck they are not losing sellers if they keep banning them and not helping when needed. |
| SaiJin | 01-14-2021 11:49 AM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! I'm very sure they did think things through.
They have the traffic and traffic = buyer = king.
For any seller they lose they know they'll get new ones.
So they'd favor buyers instead of sellers. |
| Mister_Zi | 01-14-2021 07:16 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! eBay thought this through very well.
Buyers are always right, nothing we can do about it. No matter how good account is... |
| littleredengine07 | 01-14-2021 07:19 PM | Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! I think the in app selling platforms on the phone will grow because a seller might be buyer too. But who knows. I feel if there wasn’t a pandemic or bad economy. Maybe a lot less scammers around.
I hope the Feds turn on the printer and get themselves Econ pack when printing those dollars. We need people to spend or be left with a bunch scammers. |

What do you think? | Yep, same experience I had at first. went from 1 or 2 a year, to 1 or 2 a month. I told this to the ebay reps and they kept claiming it's just a coincidence. Something about the system makes people more likely to do a chargeback, which is a major pain the ass and can take MONTHS. |
| littleredengine07 | 01-15-2021 03:22 PM | Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! eBay support is horrible. It’s like old days of dell tech support. When you saw the chargeback. Was it forwarding address? Did you see if the name match the buyer account? Can you give us a description. I am assuming there should be some sort of pattern. Maybe we all can figure out and help each other avoid these scam buyers.
We all know that eBay and ayden won’t protect us from scammers. Like sitting ducks. But if we all work together and figure the pattern out. We have better chance avoiding these type of scammers. |
| james_112233 | 01-16-2021 04:30 AM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! My experience with dodgy buyers...
As soon as they raise item not as described they go on my blacklist.
I immediately accept return. The longer these f*CK*rs have your merch the higher the risk is of them actually damaging it. From my experience they have changed their minds and they want you to foot the bill for that pleasure.
Nothing you can do. Just accept the return. It's now a kick in the balls because PayPal doesn't refund the 3% fees either. |

Personally,I prefer PaYPAL as I usually wait till I collect enough money in my paypal account to do my own bank transfer,I dont want MP to nickel and dime transfer small sum to my bank account.daily or weekly |
| samspalace | 01-16-2021 11:28 AM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! eBay is not the same anymore with managed payments I signed up to managed payments last year November I think it was.
I signed up because eBay are allowing more options for buyers to pay which sounded good to me but I don’t like managed payments one bit.
With PayPal money which went into PayPal was mine instantly and I used the money to pay for postage then withdrawal to my bank.
Managed payments is not like this I have to use my own money not money from sales but my own money to pay for postage.
I’m also having to wait to receive my money so can’t invest in stock till money goes into my account which is a longer time frame.
Since Thursday I’ve got £1500 pending balance and around £190 extra on hold due to buyers not received item or wanting to return the item.
The thing is I won’t get all this £1500 on Monday either it will be broken down so Tuesday will eventually get all.
Definitely not a fan of managed payments but it’s the business I’m in so have to accept it and the changes eBay made. |

It's now a kick in the balls because PayPal doesn't refund the 3% fees either. | Also, they've implemented some new features where they're detecting linked buyers accounts and protecting the sellers to do cancellations of the transactions and also protecting against negative feedbacks where their investigation founds that this is the same buyer who is in seller's block list but buyer created new account to scam the seller again.
This is a change I guess launched may be 6 or more months ago. |
| degsey69 | 01-16-2021 02:45 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! Managed payments mean eBay have your money and manage it any way they want.
It was the worst thing they have done to the sellers, before top rated seller did not have the money held from their account when a buyer opened a return under PayPal. Now under managed payments they hold the money, millions maybe billions of dollars kicking around in their account until the order has been returned. If a buyer does not return the order in he 16 days they will not close the return out, they want 30 days on it. One time after they refused to close a return after 18 days, I emailed them that I had cancelled the UPS label I sent the buyer as they had exceeded the time and now could no longer return it, eBay immediately closed the return. So the majority of my return labels are UPS and I cancel them after 16 days and just email eBay and inform them and they close the return.
Anyway MP is the worst thing to happen to eBay sellers as I mentioned earlier. |

Definitely not a fan of managed payments but it’s the business I’m in so have to accept it and the changes eBay made. | ok but, paypal also holds money for cases? So MP wouldn't change that. As far as the pending balance. Well. yeah, not the most fun, but mine is released in 24 hours, so it hasn't been much of an issue. So 24-48 hours till a payment made for a purchase, is put into my account
Also, pretty sure postage comes out of the money in MP's, so just the same as if it came out of paypal. So what's the difference for you here? I'm confused. |

And isn't the money held by ebay, actually held by ayden? Not ebay? Ayden is the processor.
I'm not sure what happens to that money tho. I always thought it had to be held in escrow, just as your landlord can't put your deposit in his own account and make money on it. |
| samspalace | 01-16-2021 06:58 PM | Re: Chargebacks on MP, WTF!!! eBay uk postage doesn’t come out of managed payments they don’t have that feature so you have to use upfront money without selling first to post the item which is no good.
Yes PayPal could hold a transaction but as soon as you got a sale it would cover it and you can withdrawal the money instantly.
All I see now in managed payments is loads of money in processing payments and around 10% money on hold from eBay and nothing in my bank so can’t re invest in stock till Tuesday and if another case is opened as Covid is still around that would be deducted from processing payments. It’s crap some people like it some don’t but I have to accept it as it’s the business I’m involved in. |
