What am I doing Wrong?
 

Hi....any assistance would be fantastic.
ok. I brought a laptop, I have an old desktop, a new desktop and set up two accounts at work. I have Comcast with a router at home and I tried to change the IP and it completely shut down my system. I had to call comcast. They reset it, which incidentally gave me a new IP addy. :bounce: Which made me happy. So after that fiasco, I decided to install AOL on all the computers because I thought I read that it would give me new IP addresses.
So, I created seperate window and aol accounts. Yet everytime I log in, and especially on the laptop, it keeps coming up with the same IP address. I shut it down, run ccleaners, still...same IP. What am I doing wrong? I want to stick with dial-up so clear steps on how to get it to change is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. =O)

One thing needs to make sure first here - are you actually logging in your new AOL accounts through cable modem OR a phone line?

cable modem.
My cable, internet and phone all came in one package.

Disconnect the cable, try hooking up your computer for the Internet only with an actual phone line.

Yes, AOL dial up will give you new IP every time you sign on internet, using your phone line. Using your cable connection to get into AOL wont cut it, since you are using your cable internet connection. Just make sure you have separate user accounts and you'll be fine.

AOL gives u only 2 ips through high speed and everyone shares these ip's. They work fine for ebay and paypal but i belive that ebay/pp keeps a closer eye on people useing aol and if u listing anything risky they will banned you no ? asked.
