eBay wants VAT Number
 

Hey guys,

I am working with a stealth account on eBay for couple of years now and now I have been given 30 days by eBay to provide VAT number. How can I do this with stealth details? Do I need National Insurance number? How can I register with HMRC?

The VAT details you supply ebay will have to match the account, so unless you're willing to consider fraud then you'll struggle to register with HMRC for a matching VAT account.


Although you're using the UK flag but don't have a NI number are you based outside UK.

Is it supposed to match the personal details of the acct owner? or is it possible to upgrade to a business acct and change the business name and have the VAT number match that name? Just curious cause that's how it works with providing an EIN to paypal in the US.

Yes, if you operate as a Limited Company it is that, the registered entity, which is VAT registered. If you're operating as a sole trader then it is the individual. In a partnership only one partner needs to be registered.
