Sold first item on Stealth Ebay, got message from Paypal.
 

Right after sale I got a message from Paypal saying the following:

Take action on your account

Confirm taxpayer status action required.


What happens if I don't provide my SSN or tax id?

Do I lose this paypal? Also what is the reason why I would get this on a paypal after a first sale? What could I have done wrong?

Yes, it is possible depending on the price of the item sold and what state the PayPal account is registered in.

OP, was it a risky first sale? Categorywise at least?

Eventually you will be restricted from receiving funds until you do.

But what I think I did wrong and correct me if I'm wrong is, I guess the paypal email address was not confirmed, one sale got put on hold, I didn't realize it was because the email was not confirmed, then two days later I confirmed email, and the payment didn't go through ebay let me know it was a suspicious buyer. Then it sold again, payment went through but I received this email.

So I'm thinking of creating another paypal account for this healthy ebay, do I have to use the same stealth info when creating another paypal account or new stealth info then attach it to this ebay?

It's in the same state the ebay account was registered in?

Some states have different thresholds other than the normal $20,000 taxpayer limits that require you to update the taxpayer status..

MA: $600 and 0 Transactions
DC: $600 and 0 Transactions
MS: $600 and 0 Transactions
VT: $600 and 0 Transactions
NJ: $1,000 and 0 Transactions
AR: $2,500 and 0 Transactions
IL: $1,000 and 4 Transactions (starting TY2020)
VA: $600 and 0 Transactions
CA: Pending Legislation

Wow!!! I did not know this, but even still my items were only 40 to 48 dollars. Wow so basically avoid doing stealth paypals/ebays in any of those states right?

Yeah, same thing happened to me 5 years ago with my stealth account.
I had a PayPal account under stealth name and also had my real one. I was getting paid for my sales to my stealth PayPal and then I would transfer the funds to my real PayPal (which had debit card to instantly use money) stating it was payment for services.
After about 2-3 months doing this I got that same warning needing SS#.
I think it let me go another month before it wouldn't let me get money. (Luckily I only had $5.00 left LOL).
