Canceling orders, final value fees returned?

Question for all, I had a buyer want to cancel an order 5 minutes after they paid. It is a high priced item. I made the mistake of not getting to accept the cancel request in time. eBay then sent a message I can no longer cancel the order. Buyer opened a return on me. What to do now? Would like to not pay the eBay fees since no item was sold. Do I refund via PayPal and take the hit on eBay fees?

Basically yes - if you can get eb on live chat or so, you might be able to get an agent to help rectify....but it's not guaranteed

Refund them through the return request and you should have your fees credited back.

buyer opens a return?
what is he going to return, since you have not shipped anything?
Your buyer should cancel the return request and see if you can cancel the order using the reason -buyer and seller agree to cancel the order, you should get your FVF back, but for Paypal fee,I am afraid you will have to eat it

respond and tell them you'll accept a return...they have nothing to send back. You can also respond with a partial refund minus the paypal fees since those won't be refunded to you.

The buyer probably wouldn't like that. Selling fees are the sellers problem.

Only seller can cancel the order,I dont see why he cant?
as for Paypal fee,Paypal will keep its fee as it has done its job.

Buyer can ask but seller ultimately decides to agree and finalize

And then when the buyer gets the item he didn't want, he opens a SNAD, sends you back garbage, and even leaves negative ( if you don't have free returns protection).
