Default what's considered a new account on ebay?

ebay treats new account with much more scrutiny. Wondering what's considered to be a new account and what's considered to be a relatively 'safe account' from ebay's perspective?

I often found for a new account once i start selling a little more expensive items around $100, it got suspended right away.

Do we have any threshold for ebay to determine such as total items sold, total revenue or account age, etc? So after we hit that metrics we can start selling more expensive items?

I consider 3 months or so of low-risk sales a "seasoned" account.

Thanks for your input! During the 3 months period how much items or total amount would you sell? Do we sell the more the better or the less the better?

Id say an acct that no longer has the 21 day holds with paypal.
The conditions to get past those holds cover the time period, the number of transactions and the dollar value.

Thanks for your tips! during the time period (i believe it's 3 months?) would you suggest to sell as little as possible or as much as possible with safe low priced items?

A new safe account takes a number of issues into consideration, when creating the account the name has to be connected in some way to the address. The address zip code should be in a safe neighborhood. All these are checked when the account is created and why they will suspend and ask for further verification if things do not match. Also an IP address from the general area you registering the account from is a good thing, failing that a mobile hotspot is excellent when creating a new account.

Then build your sales up over the 3 months, creating 2 or 3 listings the first week, then 5 or 6 the second week building up the third week and then some more new listings in the 4th week. If the account is still intact then list as normal the 5th week on.

Do not sell risky or vero items, no product you send by email or gift cards, for some reason Harry Potter books are a no no and I would expect Dr Seuss boooks would take a new account down.

Sell low value items no more than $20, used if possible (estate or yard sales good for initial product to sell)

Thanks a lot for sharing your expertise! I am a bit confused about 'name has to be connected in some way to the address' part. Do you mean that ebay will check some public data to confirm a name and address match?

Also, when you advise to sell low value items, is it for the 4 week build-up period or always as a stealth account? If it's for build up period, is it safe to sell more expensive items after 4 weeks for after 3 months?

It is safer but never 100% foolproof - a lot depends on what kind of item. Also, wise to have various accounts on a rotation schedule

It is not too hard to see if the name of the EBAY ACCount lives in the address provided,or in the same zipcode, city.
