How is this possible?
 

Hi Everyone.

So I purchased an item (a diamond) on eBay and the listing states credit cards accepted as payment (no PayPal but credit cards are listed as accepted).

So go to checkout, and it says personal check and card payment IN PERSON. No option to pay by card through eBay.

Messaged seller and he says he only accepts bank transfer and sent me details to pay by international bank transfer. Bank transfers are not permitted by eBay except in limited product categories, of which diamonds and gemstones is NOT one (checked eBay help articles and this has not changed according to the help section).

How is this possible that the seller has disabled all payment methods which can be used via the eBay checkout system?

No idea how he's doing that but that's really cool. I'm sure it has something to do with the category/product.

On Ebay USA,before MP,I have seen precious metal dealers selling 6 figures gold and they ask for wiretransfer,not Paypal..
Now with MP,it said it does not accept precious metal payments but the precious metal dealers who used t o accept Paypal are still selling on Ebay,they could be using their own merchant account to accept credit card like above ..

I'll run with that one. Rather than kick sellers off their platform because Adyen refuse to manage their payments for now they've allowed them to stay and offered an alternative solution until it's possibly sorted with Adyen in the future.

Not all countries are forced to accept paypal anyway, I believe Germany is one. Maybe San Marino is another and it's nothing to with MP/Adyen after all?

Seems I was right to be suspicious and refuse to pay via bank transfer. Seller's account has been disabled (no longer registered user)
