VAT Number required,Account Limited, any way around?

My account surpassed the 85k VAT threshold this year however this was only due to the COVID wave rise in sales,I do not plan to keep such turnover & do not want to register for VAT,I explained this and the want VAT Number or Letter of exemption from HMRC,no other options.

Is there anyway around this to save the account, it’s with legit details on MP.

What if I close it down and start a fresh as a last resort,

Not sure if you can just close it down and start fresh - i'm following because this doesn't seem simple to avoid this request

What's stopping you from getting an exemption letter if the account is truly legit?

Get the VAT exempt letter OR register now and then deregister for VAT after the close of the next tax year. OR Abandon the account.

I don't know what might happen if you deregister and then register again on eBay, but to be safe, I'd assume the worst.
No other easy way out.

Abandon the account and open another.

OR register and de-register later on.

I know for a fact HMRC don't provide exemption letters for ebay.

I’m at 86k now and at the moment I havnt been asked to register for VAT but I’m expecting the email any time soon. Truthfully I’ve been trying to avoid VAT.

I have a legit account so if I can somehow get an exception letter to avoid the registration process then I may do that.

If you keep selling, you'd find it difficult to get an exception from VAT registration.

I'd advise you to stop selling, write HMRC using the address below. Tell them why you wish to be excepted from VAT registration.

BT VAT
HM Revenue and Customs
BX9 1WR
United Kingdom

If you do it correctly, you should receive a letter exempting you from VAT.
eBay will honour it - but you have to be careful. Some of what you write to HMRC may be echoed in the letter you receive.

Send a PM if you need guidance.

If your turnover for any rolling 12 month period is 86k then you have zero chance of an exemption letter....because you're not entitled to one and you'll get asked to pay up so be careful what you ask for.

The best you could do is register, pay your dues and then de-register.

Not aimed at you, but on the assumption many sellers are operating stealth accounts to not only avoid ebays ban hammer but not pay any income tax then why on earth dice with the 85k VAT limit? Just create another account.
